FORT WILLIAM., Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd (September 4th) sold 2,620 store sheep of all classes.
Lambs (2,150) sold to £121 gross for a Texel Cross from Moy Farm, Fort William.
Ewes (411) sold to £192 gross for a pen of Cheviots from Laga Farm, Roshven.
Rams (15) sold to £210 gross for a Blackface from Glenview, Kinlocheil.
Feeding Sheep (44) sold to £122 gross for a Cheviot wedder from Glenfintaig Estate, Spean Bridge.
“The opening store lamb sale of the season in the fort bore witness to the dearest trade ever seen in this centre for store lambs. Vendors returned to the hills with pockets full and faces beaming, as buyers from near and far insured a trade of epic proportions were received.
Breeding ewes also met a phenomenon enquiry and many perspective buyers ventured home empty handed.”
