Putting Sensory Integration into practice
This week, the Southpaw UK team took part in a fantastic Sensory Integration training day at Creative Therapy Options in Salford, Milton Keynes, led by Claire Smith, BSc, PGCERT, MRCOT, Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist and Advanced Sensory Integration Practitioner (ASI®).
The day combined classroom learning with practical, hands-on experience, exploring the neuroscience underpinning Sensory Integration, the principles behind SI therapy, and how carefully selected sensory equipment can be used purposefully within therapeutic practice.
Getting hands-on with Southpaw sensory integration equipment was an important part of the day. It gave the team the opportunity to experience the movement, resistance, support and sensory qualities of the equipment first-hand, building an even stronger understanding of how it is used by therapists in real-world settings.
Training like this helps connect the equipment we supply with the clinical thinking behind its use, giving our team a deeper understanding of how well-designed sensory environments and appropriate equipment can support meaningful therapeutic goals.
A big thank you to Claire and the team at Creative Therapy Options for an informative, enjoyable and engaging day.
