Burn Valley Vineyard

Burn Valley Vineyard Coastal Norfolk Vineyard We planted 17,000 vines in April 2016 on a 4 hectare site on our family farm in North Creake near Burnham Market. Laura & Sam

Our winery was completed in the summer of 2019 and we are now able to produce our wine on site. We are so proud of the wines we have produced so far (winning four golds at the Wine GB East Anglia Awards in 2020) and super excited about the future.

Back to school today, and summer officially clocks off on the 23rd of this month. Boo hoo. No need to be gloomy about it though as we’ve got you covered…

September means the hard work for Harvest begins, but it’s also time for our own take on Oktoberfest, which is celebrated every bit as enthusiastically across Austria, where Laura and Steve first met. Which means we know how to do all the favourites, right.

Consider it our way of softening the autumnal shift, and welcoming in the most colourful season of the lot.

We’ve teamed up with on a wheat beer that will knock your socks off. Steve’s back on the Bavarian favourites: homemade pretzels, huge ham hocks, and all our latest vintages alongside.

So when is this brassy-meaty-themed-feast I hear you cry? Sunday 27th September, 1pm–6pm. £15, including a beer or a glass of wine on arrival and our brilliant oompah band soundtracking the party. You know where.

These tix sell out every year, so don’t hang about. Lederhosen optional.

What are you doing this bank holiday weekend?

We’ll be pouring, if you fancy joining us.

🍷 Cellar door — Friday to Monday, 11am–4pm
🥂 Wine bar — Friday 11am–4pm, Saturday 11am–6pm

Saturday is the big one: a few spaces left on our formal sit-down tastings, so message us or book online if you’d like one. It’s a brilliant way to while away an afternoon and we will feed you too!

Sunday and Monday it’s cellar door only — no wine bar, no kitchen. Just casual tastings, a browse round the shop, and crisps if you really need something to lean on.

We’ve several new vintages in stock and waiting for you to try, or take away with you. If you can’t get into see us, hit the link in bio and order via the website.

Marshside, Brancaster. The bar at the White Horse, tide on its way out, with the famous light doing what it does.

The Oyster Festival here last week was another belter - Rob Williamson and the Marshside team put on another incredible event.

Our Marshside 2024 and Marshside Sparkling are available there now, both made in partnership with Rob and the team.

It’s the perfect drink to pair with their seafood.

The festival might be finished, but the Oysters are still the freshest you can eat. If you didn’t make it for the Festival, go try them now it’s quieter, with a glass of our wine, while the light does this.

If you did try our wine last week and want a bottle to relive the moments, head to our website now. Link in bio.

Secret Supper at the Winery last night. Summer, tomatoes, Moroccan and Portuguese flavours, and a toast to close out the season. 🍅

Thank you to everyone who’s come along this year — regular faces and new friends both. It’s been a proper run through Steve’s cooking paired with Mat and Laura’s wines, and we don’t take for granted that you keep turning up to share it with us.

Norfolk food is on the map, English wine has never been more exciting, and we’re glad to play our small part in it.

Next season’s dates go out to the newsletter first. They’ve been selling out before we’ve even posted about them, so if you don’t want to miss the next one, that’s where to be. Steak Night tonight is already full.

And the new vintages are live on the website now:

Bacchus Fumé
Blanc de Blancs
Orange Wine
And an amazing Desert wine you just have to try.

We make everything in small batches, no restocks. When they’re gone, they’re gone.

Our Summer Party went off! Sun was out, glasses were charged, and Hot Crumbs were fantastic.

If you missed out, Secret Supper is full for this weekend, and Steak Night almost is too.

So if you’re looking at these photos wishing you’d been here, join the newsletter. Dates go out to that list first and it’s the easiest way to not miss out.

While you’re at it, the new vintages are on the website now:

Bacchus Fumé (gold medal winning ❤️✨🍾)
Blanc de Blanc (made in the traditional method, but a full 48 months on lees!!!)
Marshside Sparkling (nothing better for sunny afternoons)
AND our new Orange Wine (IEWA Bronze!)

We’re shooting some explainers this week to take people through our faves, but there’s no need to wait for the socials. We make everything in small batches and when they’re gone, they’re gone.

Link in bio for the shop and the newsletter. Or drop in for a tasting in real life! 🍇🍾✨❤️

The way Hamish looks at the camera is exactly how he’ll look at you as he pours your free drink on Saturday. 😍😍🍾🍾🍾

This Saturday 8th August, 4pm - 11pm.

We’re down to the last twenty or so tickets. £15 per ticket, or two tickets for £25 if you’re bringing a drinking / dance partner.

Smash and Dash will be providing their awesome street food menu on site, with Jess Kidd and Hot Crumbs soundtracking the party from 4pm - 11pm.

With awards for our Bacchus, and our Orange Wine in the bag this year, plus medals for a ton of others there’s loads to celebrate anyway, but this party marks our 10th year since we planted the vines and went all in on this crazy adventure.

Come join us, for the party of the Summer. Link in bio — worth not leaving it.

This morning, the team was out tucking in – training every new shoot across 17,000 vines, row by row, by hand.

It’s repetitive, physical work. Two weeks of it, start to finish. No machine does this part — it takes people paying attention, vine by vine, all day.

Good weather for it today, steady pace up and down the rows.

Our vines turned 10 this year. It’s been a tricky spring — frost caught a lot of vineyards this year, and we didn’t come through it unscathed either, though being this close to the coast has always given us a bit of natural protection. All the more reason tucking in properly, now, matters.
