🔥 Confession from a massage therapist...
Hot stone massage is probably my least favourite massage to give.
But it's also my favourite massage to receive! 😂
Why?
When I'm giving one, the stones gradually cool down and need to be swapped for freshly heated ones. As a therapist, I find that interrupts the natural flow of the massage a little.
But when I'm the one lying on the table... completely different story. 🙌
I absolutely love the combination of warmth and massage.
And there's something else I've noticed through my work: not everybody's muscles respond to massage in the same way.
Sometimes an area of tension responds really well to sports massage or deeper techniques. For another person, warmth and slower massage can seem to work much better.
Harder doesn't always mean better.
In my latest article, I explain how hot stone massage works, its benefits, why the stones need changing, and why different massage techniques can work better for different people.
