🎓 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀

Major new investment will help create clearer routes from Borders College to degree-level study, opening up more opportunities for people across the region.

The Open University in Scotland has secured support through the Scottish Funding Council’s University Transformation Framework to expand its ‘Catalyst Centre’ partnership with Borders College.

The three-year programme will create more flexible progression opportunities, helping learners build higher-level qualifications while remaining in their communities and, where appropriate, combining study with employment.

The partnership will also explore new approaches to curriculum design, enterprise education, digital learning and degree-level provision.

Designed for Scottish Borders residents aged 16–67 who are experiencing barriers to employment, this 7-week programme will help you gain practical skills, build confidence and improve your employability.

The programme includes the following courses:
🚜 Tractor Driving for Beginners
🛻 All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Training
🔥 Introduction to Welding
🌿 Brushcutting, Strimming & Garden Machinery Maintenance

We’re delighted to announce that Borders College lecturer Sam Anderson has been shortlisted as one of the final three finalists for Lecturer of the Year at the CDN College Development Network Awards 2026! 🌟

Sam’s nomination recognises his work raising awareness and supporting conversations around perimenopause, which began from a personal desire to better understand and support his partner.

His journey led to becoming a Menopause Champion, writing Perimenopause: The A-Z Guide for Us Idiots, and creating opportunities for conversations with students, colleagues and workplaces.

💬 “I never thought trying to understand perimenopause, becoming a Menopause Champion and accidentally writing a book would end with a Lecturer of the Year nomination.”

𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 🎉👨🏻‍🎓

Borders College recently celebrated its Graduation 2026 ceremony, honouring the exceptional achievements of its students. 👏

The much-anticipated event took place this month at the Borders Events Centre in Kelso. Having worked incredibly hard to complete their courses, it was time to recognise and celebrate the accomplishments and successes of everyone over the last year.

As part of the ceremony, the Honorary Fellowship of the College was awarded this year to Suzanne Mullholland. Suzanne, known as The Batch Lady, is a bestselling author, TV presenter and organisation expert from the Scottish Borders. Through her meal-preparation methods, books and television work, she helps families save time, reduce waste, manage budgets and live more efficiently.

This year’s ceremony was made possible by the kind donations of the College’s sponsors, including Charlesfield Farms, Eildon Housing, Floors Castle, MKM Building Supplies, Morrison Construction, Mott MacDonald, Safe Services, and Scottish Borders Housing Association (SBHA).
