🎒 Pro Tip Tuesday: An end-of-term reset

As the school year draws to a close, now is a great opportunity to do a little decluttering and organising before the summer holidays begin.

A few ideas:

📚 Jotters, worksheets and artwork
Keep the treasures, recycle what you can, and consider taking photos of larger pieces before letting them go.

✏️ Stationery
Sort through pens, pencils and supplies. Recycle what you can't use and donate good-quality surplus items where possible.

🎒 School bags
Donate bags that are still in good condition, or recycle them if they've reached the end of their useful life.

👕 Uniform
Store items for younger siblings. The rest can often be donated to school uniform sales, charities or uniform banks if they're still wearable.

👞 School shoes
Donate good-quality pairs or take them to Schuh, who offer £5 off a new pair when you recycle an old one.

📱 Social media
If your child is moving on to a new school, consider leaving parent groups/chats and unfollowing pages that are no longer relevant.

📧 Email
Bulk-delete old newsletters and school bulletins to reduce digital clutter.

📅 Calendar
Download next year's school calendar and add key dates to your diary now. Future you will be grateful!

✨ A little end-of-term reset can make the transition into the holidays feel calmer and help you start the new school year feeling organised and prepared.

✨ Weekly Round-Up ✨

A week filled with practical progress and thoughtful planning.

🏡 I had a consultation with a mum who wants to streamline and simplify throughout her home, creating systems that save time, reduce mental clutter and make everyday life run more smoothly.

📂 I supported a regular client with post-move admin — chasing suppliers, checking the progress of outstanding tasks, reviewing transactions and archiving paperwork relating to her previous property.

📚 I also spent time in Milngavie helping a client work through her living room, section by section. This week, we focused on books and paperwork, creating more space and light so she can enjoy hosting family and friends in the future.

It's always rewarding to see how small, steady steps add up to meaningful change!

📱Pro Tip Tuesday: Create a Let it Go WhatsApp group

Looking for an easy way to rehome unwanted items while helping friends and neighbours?

Why not set up a small WhatsApp group dedicated to decluttering?

As you're clearing out your home, simply post photos of items you'd like to pass on. You might be surprised how often something you no longer need is exactly what someone else has been looking for!

A few simple ground rules can help keep things manageable:

📸 No more than three items per person, per week
⏰ First come, first served
🚗 Collection within an agreed timeframe
♻️ If there are no takers after a few days, move the item on via another route

It's a great way to reduce waste, save money and make decluttering feel a little more rewarding.

Have you ever passed decluttered items on to friends or neighbours? I'd love to hear what worked well for you. Share your tips in the comments! 💬

✨ Weekly Round-Up ✨

This week has been a reminder that organisation comes in many forms — from wardrobes and paperwork to the behind-the-scenes tasks that keep life and business running smoothly.

📊 I met with my accountant to review my self-assessment tax return. Not the most exciting item on the to-do list, but always satisfying to get everything in order!

👗 I held consultations with two potential clients — one looking to create a more organised wardrobe, and another keen to streamline and simplify throughout her home. I'm looking forward to helping them create spaces that work better for their lifestyles.

📂 I also supported a regular client with post-move admin, including contacting suppliers, ordering change-of-address cards, resolving a billing query, and researching storage options for archive documents and everyday paperwork.

Sometimes the biggest difference comes from tackling the tasks that sit quietly on the to-do list and drain mental energy. It's always rewarding to help clients clear those hurdles and move forward with confidence!

🎙️ Pro Tip Tuesday: Let Siri or Google Assistant remember it for you

You know that moment when you're driving, cooking dinner, walking the dog or deep in concentration on something important... and suddenly remember something completely unrelated?

💡 Buy printer ink
💡 Pay Sarah back for lunch
💡 Book a dentist appointment
💡 Add milk to the shopping list

Rather than trying to hold onto the thought (and risking forgetting it), get it out of your head straight away by asking Siri or Google Assistant to capture it for you.
A few examples:

🛒 "Hey Google, add bananas to my shopping list."
💷 "Hey Siri, remind me to send Emma that payment when I get home."
💜 "Hey Google, remind me to drop off my decluttered items at the charity shop tomorrow."

By capturing ideas, reminders and tasks the moment they occur to you, you free up valuable mental space and can get back to what you were doing, knowing that the thought won't be lost.

✨ It's a simple habit, but one that can make a big difference to reducing mental clutter and helping you stay organised!

Do you use Siri, Google Assistant or another voice assistant? I'd love to hear your favourite uses for it – share your tips and ideas in the comments below. 💬

✨ Weekly Round-Up ✨

Another week of creating space, clarity and momentum for clients.

📂 Supporting a regular client to clear recent paperwork, establish next steps and contact suppliers with a few outstanding queries.

💻 Working alongside a downsizing client in her new home, reviewing old tech and paperwork, identifying what is still relevant and clearing the decks. An old laptop was taken for secure wiping and recycling, and two full bags of electrical items were dropped off at a local recycling point.

📚 Starting to work through a long-term client's book collection — setting aside titles for family and charity while creating some much-needed breathing space on the shelves.

🏡 Helping a local lady make space so she can access items she hasn't seen for a while. She's looking forward to exploring them in more detail before our next session.

It's always rewarding to see how small, steady steps can make homes feel lighter, more manageable and better suited to the lives being lived in them. 💛

✨ Pro Tip Tuesday: Start with the vision

Before you begin decluttering and organising, take a moment to think about the end result.

How do you want the space to work? What difference will it make to your daily life? Who will benefit, and how?

Picture yourself easily finding the paperwork you need, choosing outfits from a wardrobe that isn't overflowing, or planning meals without rummaging through cupboards.

The clearer your vision, the easier it becomes to make decisions about what stays, what goes and how to organise what's left.

Get specific. Don't just aim for "less clutter" – think about how you want the space to look, feel and function.

✨ Weekly Recap ✨

A shorter week this week, but a lovely one.

☀️ Making the most of the bank holiday sunshine with a day trip and some special memories made.

📂 Supporting a long-term client to get on top of post-move admin — comparing suppliers, completing applications and confirming key transactions had gone through smoothly.

🔎 Helping a client sift through every nook and cranny of her home — files, bags, coats, cupboards and drawers — in search of a missing passport. Safe to say she was delighted when I found it, and relieved to avoid a lot of hassle!

💻 Putting the final touches on a brand new course for APDO — watch this space!

Sometimes organisation isn’t just about sorting things — it’s about creating clarity, peace of mind and the occasional miracle find. 💛

Car boot sales are a fun, face-to-face way to shift a lot of items in one go—and kids can get involved too.

With a little prep (think: a quick clean, a touch of ironing), your items will look their best and sell faster. Many sellers walk away with around £100+ profit—not bad for a morning’s work in the sunshine!

Encourage your kids to gather toys, books or clothes they’ve outgrown and let them help you set up and sell on the day.

If you're unsure about whether this is the right approach for you, consider heading along to one as a visitor first. It's usually free admission for buyers, and is a good chance to observe attendance levels, the best set-up and what's selling well.

Top Tip - swing by the charity shop to hand in any items that didn't sell. Either way, you'll come home with an empty car...and some cash to boot!

Rounding off a busy week and heading into the long weekend! 🌞

📦 Supporting a client to unpack after a house move — unwrapping items, putting things away and clearing excess packing materials. She said having an extra pair of hands made the process feel invaluable, she can now see the way forward....and she was particularly delighted to finally wave goodbye to the last of the moving boxes!

🍽️ Working through the contents of a new client’s kitchen — decluttering out-of-date food, creating sensible zones for gadgets, crockery and kitchenware, and even setting up a snack station for the kids.

📂 Helping an elderly client edit paperwork that had become overwhelming. My usual shredding company had unexpectedly closed down, but after a quick Google search and a few phone calls, I found a new supplier able to shred and recycle responsibly. Better still, they’re based next to one of my old workplaces — a real trip down memory lane!

🎓 Co-hosting a trial run of a brand new course for APDO. Lots of great discussion and constructive feedback, and we’re excited to take it to the next stage very soon.

A lovely reminder that organisation is often about making life feel lighter, simpler and easier to navigate.
