It's UK Coaching Week 2026🙌

This UK Coaching Week, we’re celebrating the role of purposeful play in helping people of all ages to learn, develop and stay active.

Playful, well-designed activities can build confidence, develop skills, and create positive experiences that support lifelong participation in physical activity. This approach is key to creating inclusive environments where everyone feels able to take part.

It’s encouraging to see clubs, coaches and organisations embedding meaningful, playful approaches that place enjoyment and engagement at the centre of activity, learning and development😀

Together, these approaches help more people build a lifelong love of being active.

Pride Month 2026🌈

Active Gloucestershire is proud to support and celebrate Pride Month, recognising the importance of creating inclusive environments where everyone feels able to be active and belong.

Our colleague Ida recently attended Cheltenham Pride and Wotton Pride, representing Active Gloucestershire at two well-attended events that highlighted the strength, visibility and diversity of local communities.

Looking ahead, there are further opportunities to get involved:
⭐ Stroud Pride - 25 July 2026, Bank Gardens, Stroud
⭐ Pride in Gloucestershire - 12 September, Gloucester Park (12:00 - 20:00)

Pride provides an important platform to promote inclusion, challenge barriers, and ensure physical activity and community spaces are welcoming for all.

🌍 World Environment Day

Today is all about taking action to protect our planet - and it’s something we can all be part of.
We know that climate change is already affecting how people can be active in Gloucestershire, from flooding and extreme weather to changes in our local spaces. At the same time, sport and physical activity can play a positive role in protecting the environment.

That’s why we’ve launched our Environmental Sustainability Strategy and Action Plan to support clubs, groups, facilities and organisations to take practical steps towards sustainability.
Whether you’re just getting started or already taking action, we’re here to support you.

It's currently Child Safety Week 2026!🌟

This Child Safety Week, we’re marking the national campaign led by the Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT), centred around the theme 'Making Prevention Possible'. It’s about helping families and communities build confidence around safety, with simple, practical steps that protect children without feeling overwhelming💛

We know safe environments don’t happen by chance, they’re created through shared knowledge, everyday actions and strong support networks.

That’s why we’re also championing the South West Club Welfare Festival this June 👇

A month of training, talks and workshops designed to strengthen safeguarding, welfare and wellbeing across clubs and communities.

💬 Whether you're a Club Welfare Officer, volunteer, coach or leader, committee member, or simply passionate about creating safer environments, this festival is for you.

Together, we can make prevention possible, giving children safer spaces to be active, learn and thrive.

Wow…where to start with yesterday?🤩

Yesterday was a powerful reminder of what happens when people come together with a shared purpose. The We Can Move Event 2026 brought together partners, communities and changemakers from across Gloucestershire, all committed to creating more active, healthy and connected communities🙌

It wasn’t just an event. It was a space to pause, reflect and reconnect with why we do this work.

From inspiring speakers and practical workshops, to the conversations in between, there was a real sense of momentum building. A reminder that by working together, we can turn uncertainty into action and strengthen the partnerships that make change possible⭐

There’s something special about being in a room full of people who care deeply about the same mission, supporting people to move more and live healthier lives.

Let’s keep the energy going and turn those conversations into action. We can't wait to share more from the event!

Did you join us yesterday? Tell us your highlight of the day below!👇

We’re proud to be taking part in Volunteers’ Week 2026 – marking 42 years of saying thank you to volunteers across the UK for everything they do👏

At Active Gloucestershire, we want to take a moment to recognise and celebrate the incredible volunteers across our county.

Volunteers play a vital role in helping people stay active, connected and healthy. From grassroots sports clubs and community groups to local events and support services, their time, energy and passion make Gloucestershire a better place to live, work and move.

This week is a chance for us all to pause, reflect and celebrate and to share stories, highlight impact, and shine a spotlight on the positive difference volunteers make every single day.

Join us in celebrating 42 years of Volunteers’ Week and thanking those who make our communities stronger⭐

Who’s a volunteer you’d like to celebrate?☝️
