This past week has seen us all over the Yorkshire region again with an excursion to Oxford.

We have carried out a full clean and re commission of an air sampling system in a food processing plant in the York area.
The system was not detecting or pulling air correctly and was in a very poor state due to poor maintenance in the past. This system is now fully up and running and detecting correctly within permitted ranges and times we also carried out some rectification works to some loop devices on the same system.

We don’t like to show poor work, but unfortunately this week we were asked to look at a system that has been poorly installed and maintained, multiple issues were found with the system, and reported to the client.

We visited two sites in Sheffield one to rectify an air sampling unit which was in fault and another to carry out routine maintenance and testing with the help of Spider-Man.

Our trip to Oxford was to assist with a site we have carried out numerous works on in the past. This visit was to decommission multiple parts of the older system after over 80% of the site has had an upgrade. I believe we will not be required at this site again as the last 20% of the system is marked for upgrade in October.
Our client has however asked if we would be interested in getting involved with another site in Oxford, with a closed system installed, of course we would be happy to assist them in any way we can.

Last week we were all over the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire region, a little bit more relaxed than previous weeks.

We have attended some school sites to commission on addition interfaces for door release in fire, many sites across the country are now being picked up for lacking BS7273-4 compliance.

We have visited a care home in Cleethorpes to advise on an upgrade and to bring the system upto BS5839-1 requirements, unfortunately the current provider has missed many non compliant parts of the system and failed to correctly inform the premises, or make recommendations which has resulted in the fire service being involved and the potential for enforcement action.

We work closely with the fire and rescue services and if required, we can work as an intermediary between a site and enforcement to produce a time line and solutions to keep both parties happy, while working towards fire safety compliance.

Other works this week included fitting key switches to reduce live sounder activations while carrying out weekly tests on wireless systems to reduce overall maintenance costs

We finished the week off with a phone call from a facilities management company who have requested our services to assist with fault rectification and compliance services in the Yorkshire region. Happy to say we have signed them on as a customer.

Another busy week this week, we have attended multiple schools across West Yorkshire to carry out programming and Commissioning of multiple new devices following either building alterations or division of large rooms into smaller rooms to accommodate more pupils.

Some sites are having upgrades to the access control systems requiring additional interfaces to release doors in the event of fire.

Other works have included working in an underground carpark and tunnels to diagnose issues with the system regularly going into fault, we found some devices with water damage and others with heavy oxidisation due to environmental conditions, we have produced a plan and presented to our client for recommended remedial works.

All in all a successful and productive week with much of the same next week, the school holidays are always busy times for us here at Phoenix with lots of work to compete, but with limited time.

We don’t have much space in the diary between now and Christmas which is a blessing as well as a curse, as we don’t like letting people down and want to accommodate everyone where we can.

This week has seen us for the majority of the week, busy carrying out a special inspection and audit of a site in North Yorkshire.

This site has been maintained by the former service provider for many years and unfortunately to a poor standard, we have found some devices not working, areas lacking sounders, and batteries dated 2013 and 2018, with some heavily corroded.

We will compile a full report with recommendations for our client and aim to get the system in full, compliant working order.

Other works this week included visiting a car dealership in Wakefield to replace a damaged call point, carry out some air sampling maintenance and testing in Manchester, install an additional PSU to support an upgraded system in Warrington and last but not least we carried out some additional device programming and commissioning in a school in Sheffield

This week has been long and busy, we have completed the full system upgrade in Derbyshire, we hit a few alignment issues with the beam detection across the roof areas, but these were rectified this morning with all 15 beams tested and passing testing.

All the wired devices tested correctly and all the wireless devices deployed across the area are working and signalling correctly with no radio dropouts.

The system networking and reporting is working correctly with all cause and effects testing carried out and proved correct.

The system in interfaced to a PAVA system which is triggering and operating correctly, with the parent site able to trigger the system remotely from the parent sites security control room.

The deadline date for this project was 31st of July, and we completed today, 01/08, we have had downtime and delays on this project due to client and site issues which total approximately 3 days, which are out of our control and allowed for, meaning we have delivered on time and on budget again.

We still have the documentation and certification to complete but as it stands the project is complete.

On top of this project, we also completed phase one of another smaller project at a meat production factory we are involved in at Rotherham.

We have also carried out programming and configuration changes at schools in Leeds and Hull.

Now to get ready for a large school site we need to carry out an audit and special inspection on next week in North Yorkshire.

We even had a brief visit from SYFRS to the site next to ours that had a fire in the carpark 🚒

We are still on with the system upgrade in Derbyshire, but it is drawing to an end 🙌
It’s been a slog with early starts, late finishes and a lot of time spent after hours updating drawings, programming and emails

We have successfully changed and programmed all the wired devices on site, we have installed a new box full of interface units to accommodate all the interlinks, system monitoring, shutdowns and critical control circuits.

Both control panels have been replaced and awaiting networking, and 80% of the wireless devices have been programmed and deployed.

We are having a couple of issues with the beam alignments up in the steelwork, but we always knew this would be the case, perseverance will prevail, and these should be completed next week.

All in all a good result and another project we are hoping to deliver, on time and on budget

This week has seen us busy with the upgrade project we are tasked with in Derbyshire, we have completed 2 of the loops on panel 2 and the third will be complete early next week, loop 1 on panel 1 is complete and the complete loops across both panels are very nearly ready for commissioning and testing.

We have programmed panel 1 loop 2 wires equipment ready for deployment once the wiring infrastructure is complete on loop 2.

All in all a very productive week, deadline looming for this upcoming Friday with a handover and demonstration due on the Monday.

Long busy stressful week ahead, ensuring we meet deadlines and completion expectations for our client, and our clients client.

It’s been a couple of weeks since we last posted, and the only reason is, we have been that busy concentrating on upcoming and current projects and works, we forgot to post what we were doing.

We have attended multiple schools across the entire Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire regions, to carry out maintenance repairs and audits

We have started a major upgrade project in the Midlands with a complex roof installation where we need to fit fire beams to protect the area below, which is used for padel and skateboarding, with a mixture of wired and wireless detection installed in the back of house and void areas.

We have commissioned a new storage warehouse fire detection system in Sheffield and added it onto the existing production buildings network, which we upgraded around Christmas time last year.

We have carried out a pre start survey on a school in Leeds that has a full system upgrade approved in phases starting this summer, which is large, but if well planned will run smoothly.

On top of that we have had the usual small calls for faults and repairs, investigation works and quotations, lots of enquiries for future works along with planning for works next Easter on a schools estate in the East Yorkshire area.

Lots of other enquiries being dealt with, requests for dates for future works being booked in.

We will aim to keep anybody that follows us updated more frequently, we have had some very early starts and very late finishes, which have meant we kept all the plates spinning with the exception of our Facebook one.

It’s been a busy one again this week, we have picked up another new customer and carried out a takeover and special inspection of their system at a new snooker club.
We have worked a couple of nights at a shopping centre, cleaning, recalibrating and testing point to point smoke beam detection.

We have carried out other works and commissioning at schools across South Yorkshire and had a meeting with another new client regarding upcoming works across an education estate for access control and fire work.

We ended the week confirming dates for an upcoming project which we will be project managing and commissioning alongside a partner company carrying out the installation and alteration works.

Busy again this past week,
we started the week with a small cctv job we were recommended for after the customer unfortunately had suffered a break in.
The customer now has piece of mind knowing they can see their cameras no matter where they are, and have notifications sent to their phone if someone enters the area.

We spent the majority of the week at a new cancer respite centre which hasn’t been able to open due to issues with the fire system and non compliance issues, which are no fault of the owners, unfortunately there are some fire companies out there with poor standards and low morals.

The back end of the week was spent in South Yorkshire, installing a gas isolation interface onto a wireless system in a school to allow the main gas incoming valve to shutoff in the event of a fire.
We worked late into the night on Thursday to fit some interfaces at a school, to allow the access controlled doors to open in the event of fire.

We also spent time talking with more new customers requiring our services and some fault finding and maintenance within the region
