We're out and about for Humber Business Week, keep an eye out for Team Enablement!

This week, Nadine and Cass will be representing Enablement Group across a range of Humber Business Week events, connecting with local businesses, sharing ideas, and taking advantage of the fantastic learning and networking opportunities on offer across the region.

Today you'll find us at the MKM Stadium, catching up with familiar faces, meeting new contacts, and building valuable connections within the local business community.

Tuesday, Nadine will be attending David vs. Goliath Selling: Becoming a Giant Slayer, we're looking forward to her bringing back fresh insights and ideas. Meanwhile, Cass will be joining the Future Proofing the Humber networking event at the Humber Royal Hotel.

Wednesday sees Nadine taking part in NetWalking at Humber Bridge Country Park, while Cass heads to Rise Hall for an afternoon of networking. Both are looking forward to strengthening existing relationships and getting to know even more businesses from across the Humber region.

⚠️ BIG changes are coming to “fire and rehire” practices from October 2026 ⚠️

Under the Employment Rights Act 2025, employers will face much stricter rules when making changes to employee contracts.

“Fire and rehire”, where employees are dismissed and re-engaged on new terms, will generally become automatically unfair dismissal in many cases.

There will only be a very limited exception where:
➡️ A business is facing serious financial difficulty
➡️ Its survival is at risk
➡️ And the changes genuinely couldn’t have been avoided

So what should employers be doing now? 👇

✅ Consulting openly and early with employees
✅ Exploring alternatives before changing contracts
✅ Clearly documenting business reasons
✅ Taking proper HR and legal advice before acting

The message behind the changes is clear:
Contract changes should be fair, transparent, and properly negotiated. Not forced through as a last resort.

Busy? Yes. Productive? Even bigger yes from our Enablement Group team 👏

Last week, both Cass and Nadine have been out and about representing the business at a number of networking events, including visits to Doncaster College and John Leggott College. These opportunities continue to strengthen relationships with education providers, support future talent pathways, and connect with local businesses and professionals.

Nadine has also attended the Marketing Forum run by Doncaster Chambers, which focused on helping businesses better understand current marketing activity, trends, and practical approaches to engagement. A valuable morning of learning and sharing ideas between local businesses, supporting each other to thrive.

Meanwhile, Amy has continued supporting one of our clients through their recruitment process, helping to ensure a smooth and positive experience for both the business and candidates involved. Alongside this, she has been completing Right to Work audits to help clients remain compliant and confident in their processes.

From Dan, his week has been focused on growth, planning, and continuing to build the right foundations as Enablement Group moves forward. A big part of the week has been preparing for our 6th team member joining us on 1st June, a huge milestone considering how far the business has come in a short space of time. Alongside that, it’s been a week full of meetings, discussions, and behind-the-scenes work focused on strengthening the business, improving internal processes, and ensuring the team is set up for the next stage of growth.

Jodi has continued supporting one of our clients in her role as a fractional HR Director, providing strategic people support and guidance. She has also been working with the team on creating social media content for some exciting upcoming posts, whilst helping prepare for our newest team member joining the team next week.

Dan and Jodi have also been discussing potential partnerships with local community groups as part of our wider CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) focus, something we are really looking forward to developing further as the business continues to grow.

It’s been another week of proactive support, and building strong relationships with both clients and the wider business community 👏

Mental Health Awareness Week may be over… but the conversation shouldn’t stop there.

At Enablement Group, we believe workplace wellbeing is built through consistent support, open conversations, and creating environments where people feel safe, valued, and listened to all year round. Not just during awareness campaigns.

For employers, that might mean:
✔️ Scheduling regular check-ins with staff
✔️ Supporting managers with their responsibilities
✔️ Reviewing workloads consistently

For employees, it’s about:
✔️ Checking in with yourself and knowing when a problem needs to be shared
✔️ Speaking up early and utilising check-ins to be open
✔️ Setting healthy boundaries to balance work and life

⚠️ A key Employment Rights Act 2025 update employers should be preparing for now…

Employers have had a proactive duty to take “reasonable steps” to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.

From October 2026, this duty will strengthen to a requirement to take “all reasonable steps.”

So, what does this look like in practice?

✅ Reviewing and updating workplace policies
✅ Providing regular, meaningful training
✅ Having clear reporting procedures in place
✅ Taking concerns seriously and responding promptly
✅ Creating a culture where employees feel safe, respected, and heard

A company can be compliant, but what's really important is this:

While protecting your business and reducing future risk, businesses need to be creating workplaces where people can thrive without fear of harassment or inappropriate behaviour.

Now is a good time for employers to ask:
