If your energy use doubled overnight, would you find out from your monitoring software, or from your next bill?

For a lot of utility managers, it's the bill. And by then, the waste has been running for weeks.

Good energy monitoring should do more than show you a monthly total. It should reveal what's running outside normal hours, flag unusual spikes, and help you pinpoint exactly which site, building or piece of equipment is driving your costs.

With the right level of detail, patterns that stay completely hidden on an invoice become obvious and easy to act on.

So what should you actually look for when choosing an energy monitoring platform? We cover it in full in our latest Business Insights video 👉 https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0x_xGV0

MHHS may mean a meter upgrade for your business. In most cases, that’s likely to be either a SMETS 2 smart meter or an AMR meter.

Both send usage data to your supplier, but they work differently. SMETS 2 allows information to travel both ways, while AMR sends readings directly from the meter to the supplier.

Our latest explainer looks at the difference and why one option may suit your business better than the other.

Think MHHS is still something businesses need to prepare for?

Suppliers have been moving electricity meters onto the new settlement arrangements since October 2025. That process is continuing throughout 2026, ahead of the industry’s May 2027 completion target.

So, while the final deadline may feel some way off, the change itself is already under way.

Our latest Business Insights video explains where the rollout stands and what it means for your business.

MHHS isn't coming. It's already happening.

Businesses across Great Britain are already being moved onto the new half-hourly settlement arrangements. As that happens, electricity bills will increasingly be based on actual half-hourly meter data instead of estimates.

Our latest Business Insights video explains what that means, when your business could be affected, and the steps worth taking now.
