🎉Today we’re celebrating an incredible milestone - 10 years of dedication from Tom at Lancaster BID!
🎊Over the past decade, Tom has played a huge role in bringing Lancaster to life through an amazing range of events, campaigns, and initiatives. From bustling event days and seasonal celebrations to creative city-wide projects, he has worked to keep turning the city into a vibrant, welcoming destination for businesses, locals and visitors alike.
🛍️His passion for supporting local businesses and creating opportunities for the community to come together has not gone unnoticed and we see how much he cares about the job both on and off the clock.
❤️Thank you, Tom, for ten years of hard work, creativity, and commitment to making Lancaster thrive. Here’s to everything you’ve achieved - congratulations on this fantastic milestone!
💬Some words from Tom:
I first moved to Lancaster almost 20 years ago after working to assist in delivery of several community projects in the district and realising what a great place it would be to live. I’ve always found the people in Lancaster very friendly and appreciated the wealth of unique independent businesses and fantastic range of events which can be found in such a small city.
My previous work was mostly focused on environmental projects including helping create improved facilities for residents including parks and gardens, play areas and community allotment sites. Although a role in the city centre was certainly a change in focus, I was delighted to find a job where I really could make a valuable contribution to the city which I’m proud to call my home.
No two days at BID are ever the same with so many projects on the go. I’ve particularly enjoyed developing some of the key events.
Dino Fest was born out of an initial idea back in 2017 when we bought just one giant T-Rex and a few baby dinosaurs into the city centre. It’s been amazing to be part of the event as it has grown into an annual weekend festival across the whole city centre. What other job gives the opportunity to es**rt dinosaurs around the city!
It’s also been a privilege to be involved in the delivery team for Light Up Lancaster as well as providing support to the team behind flagship events such as Lancaster Music Festival, Lancaster Pride and many more popular festivals.
Of course, everything at Lancaster BID is driven by our primary purpose to support city centre businesses. We are lucky to have such a diverse range of businesses including over 70% independent that you simply can’t find elsewhere. Whilst I’ve seen businesses come and go over 10 years, the passion and dedication to the city shown by the owners is constant and is a huge part of what makes our city so special. I really have been fortunate to meet so many amazing people through my work at Lancaster BID.
I’m looking forward to many more years supporting our fantastic city centre and encourage everyone to Love Local, Love Lancaster.
❤️❤️❤️
