🏃‍♀️📱Taking NHS App support into the community!

IPC’s Digital Champions recently teamed up with parkrun UK to promote digital inclusion and raise awareness of the NHS App at two local events in Leamington and Bedworth.

Across the two events, the team spoke to 242 people, with 16% not yet having the NHS App. They were able to provide one-to-one support, answer questions and help people understand how the app can support them to manage their healthcare.

The pilot brought together Digital Champions, parkrun volunteers, healthcare professionals, GP practices and PCN colleagues, with support from Hussain Solo (Dr Hussain Al-Zubaid), a local GP and parkrun ambassador.

A special thank you to Clarendon Lodge Medical Practice and Bedworth Health Centre for the support they provided during the pilot.

It's a great example of how working with trusted community partners can help us reach people and start conversations about digital health💙

The free check looks at things like your blood pressure, cholesterol and lifestyle factors to help identify early signs of conditions such as:
✔️Heart disease
✔️Stroke
✔️Type 2 diabetes
✔️Kidney disease
✔️Dementia
It also provides advice and guidance on how to stay well as you age.

🌡️As the heatwave continues and a Red Heat-Health Alert remains in place, now is a good time to take a few extra precautions.

Hot weather can affect anyone, but some people can be more vulnerable to the effects of extreme heat.

Here are some simple ways to stay safe:
💧Drink plenty of water throughout the day
🏠Keep your home cool by closing curtains or blinds in sunny rooms
☀️Stay in the shade between 11am and 3pm where possible
👕Wear lightweight clothing, a hat and sunglasses when outdoors
🧴Use SPF30+ sunscreen and reapply regularly
❤️Check in on older relatives, neighbours and anyone who may need extra support

A Red Heat-Health Alert means there is an increased risk to health from the heat, so please take extra care and look after those around you.
