When you're booking training for a workforce, price and date are not the only things worth checking.

Before choosing a provider, it is worth asking:

✅ Is the course appropriate for the employee's role?
✅ Is the provider approved or accredited where the qualification requires it?
✅ How is the course assessed and what certification is issued?
✅ Can the delivery format work around your locations and operations?
✅ Do the trainers have relevant industry experience?
✅ Can the provider support your wider training requirement if more employees need training later?

C&C Training delivers courses under recognised awarding and accreditation bodies including CITB, NEBOSH, IOSH, City & Guilds, UKATA, PASMA, NPORS and others, alongside C&C's own specialist training.

If you're comparing options for a team, start with the requirement rather than simply the nearest available date.

Planning training budgets and workforce development for 2027?

The useful time to identify next year's training requirements is before certificates start expiring or a new project creates an urgent gap.

A practical training plan can start with:
✅ qualifications or certificates due for renewal
✅ employees moving into supervisory or management roles
✅ new starters or planned recruitment
✅ recurring training required across teams
✅ projects likely to create new competence requirements
✅ whether public, remote or closed-course delivery will work best

Putting that information together early makes it easier to budget, protect operational time and avoid trying to find suitable training at short notice.

C&C Training’s 2027 course dates are now available online, so you can start planning ahead for your team.

Who would know what to do if a colleague suddenly became unwell or injured at work?

Employers need to assess their workplace first aid requirements, including the risks involved, the size of their workforce and how help would be provided in an emergency.

For employees nominated as emergency first aiders, training needs to go beyond knowing where the first aid kit is kept.

C&C Training's one-day Emergency First Aid at Work course covers:

✅ assessing an emergency and first aid priorities
✅ CPR and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
✅ managing an unconscious casualty
✅ shock, bleeding and common workplace injuries

Successful delegates receive an approved certificate valid for three years.

After a workplace incident, the useful question is not only what happened. It is what allowed it to happen and what needs to change.

A useful investigation looks at the sequence of events, the conditions at the time, relevant procedures and the controls that were in place. The aim is to identify contributing factors and prevent similar incidents.

Incident investigation is one of the subjects covered by C&C Training's IOSH Managing Safely course, alongside hazard identification, risk control and health and safety responsibilities.

For managers and supervisors, knowing how to examine an incident constructively is part of managing safety in day-to-day operations.

In a busy warehouse, a counterbalance lift truck may be part of the daily routine. For a new operator, there is a lot to learn before moving loads independently.

That includes pre-operational checks, understanding the machine's controls, safe movement, handling and transferring loads, and shutting the truck down correctly.

C&C Training offers the NPORS N001 Industrial Counterbalanced Lift Truck Novice course. The published course is five days, with a maximum of three delegates, and combines knowledge with practical operating tasks.

Training and assessment may also be arranged at a suitable client site.

An employee may know their job inside out but taking responsibility for other people's work introduces different challenges.

Supervisors and managers need to recognise hazards, assess and control risks, understand their responsibilities and know how to respond when an incident occurs.

IOSH Managing Safely is a three-day course designed for managers and supervisors across different industries, not only construction.

C&C Training's course covers risk assessment, hazard control, incident investigation, performance and environmental considerations. Delegates complete an assessment and a practical project.

If someone in your organisation is moving into a supervisory role, this is one way to support the health and safety responsibilities that come with it.

Does somebody in your business regularly explain manual handling to new starters or colleagues?

Knowing how to do a task safely is one thing. Being able to teach it, demonstrate it and check that others have understood takes additional skills.

C&C Training's Train the Trainer – Manual Handling course is designed for people who will deliver this training internally.

Over two to three days, delegates work on presentation and instructional techniques, practical manual handling demonstrations and delivering an element of their own session under tutor observation.

For employers building internal training capability, it's a course worth exploring.

If your workplace has designated Fire Marshals, what are they expected to do when an alarm sounds?

The role involves understanding the workplace fire routine, supporting evacuation procedures, knowing assembly arrangements and reporting if somebody is unaccounted for.

There is also the preventative side: recognising fire hazards, keeping escape routes in mind and understanding the different types of firefighting equipment.

C&C Training's half-day Fire Marshal course covers these responsibilities, including practical use of fire extinguishers and a workplace walk-through to identify potential hazards and evacuation routes.

An abrasive wheel can be the correct size for a tool and still be the wrong wheel for the job.

Before someone starts cutting or grinding, they need to understand more than how to operate the switch. Wheel selection, condition, fitting, guards, PPE and pre-use checks all matter.

C&C Training's half-day, in-person Abrasive Wheels course covers the hazards, equipment, safe handling and inspection of wheels, with an instructor demonstration and practical wheel-fitting session.

It's relevant to teams using portable and handheld grinding equipment in workshops, maintenance and other working environments.

Six people need the same training. Do you book six places on public courses, or bring the course to your team?

When several employees need the same qualification or course, the delivery format can make a big difference to the disruption involved.

Before booking, it is worth comparing:

• how many people need the training
• how much travel would be involved
• whether the team can be released on the same date
• whether the course can be delivered at your site
• whether there are workplace examples it would be useful to discuss together

For some courses, a closed course at your site can make organising training simpler. For others, a public course, training centre or remote option may be the better fit.

C&C Training can help you work through the options and choose an appropriate delivery format for your team.
