Celia Smith, founder of Blyde Welcome, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Highlands and Islands Thistle Awards in the Individual of the Year category.

Ms Smith’s passion for hospitality started when she was still at school, and has grown from waitering to founding Shetland’s foremost training provider for the hospitality, tourism and retail industry.

Celia will be attending the awards ceremony in Inverness this October.

📸 A great visit to UHI Shetland's Scalloway campus yesterday, where I had the opportunity to meet Jim Fairlie SNP and hear more about the innovative work being done in sustainable aquaculture and shellfish production.

UHI Shetland welcomed Jim Fairlie MSP, Minister for Agriculture, Marine and the Islands, to its Scalloway campus on Monday 10 August to discuss sustainable aquaculture, shellfish innovation and the future of Scotland’s seafood sector.
