Seven teams, a full day of golf, and a raffle we've been building for months, all in support of Wisdom Hospice and in loving memory of our colleague, Gary Ager.

While not always driven solely by regulation, upgrading older lifts helps align performance with current expectations and reduces reliance on outdated systems - ultimately leading to a safer, more reliable ride.

This week, we were pleased to support a young local business with a big community spirit.

Lewis Chesney and his friend Billy Eaton, both aged 14, have set up their own detailing business, LB_Detailing, and are spending a couple of days helping to clean vehicles at Apex.

As part of their initiative, they have chosen to donate 15% of their earnings to the Wisdom Hospice, our chosen charity.

We love seeing young people showing such drive, ambition, and a willingness to give something back at the same time.

We’re pleased to welcome Sam Hill to Apex Lifts as our new Contract Coordinator.

With 16 years of experience in the lift industry, Sam brings extensive knowledge of customer relationship management, client reporting, quotations, repair coordination, and engineer scheduling. Her experience will help support the high levels of service, communication, and responsiveness our clients expect from Apex.

Since joining, she has been working closely with our engineers and office teams to build her understanding of Apex processes and strengthen collaboration across the business.

We’re delighted to have Sam on board and look forward to the contribution she will make to our customers and the wider team.

We’re pleased to welcome Hugo Alonso Bezanilla to Apex Lifts as our new intern. With a background in Software Engineering and Business Administration, Hugo will be supporting a range of teams while gaining insight into how technology, engineering, and business operations work together.

Over the coming weeks, Hugo will be helping to improve data and operational processes across the business.

To add a bit of friendly competition to this year's tournament, the team organised a World Cup sweepstake.

There was a strong showing from the Sales team, with Ray Murray and Kerry Gates securing second and third place respectively. Nevertheless, it was Finance who walked away with the trophy!

We're not saying John Clare's financial forecasting skills helped him pick the right team, but the evidence is starting to stack up...

Well done to John, Ray and Kerry, and thanks to everyone who took part and helped bring a bit of World Cup spirit to the office.

Celebrating Penny Pethick's 70th Birthday and 25 Years of Service

Last week, we took the opportunity to celebrate Penny Pethick's 70th birthday and 25 years of service with Apex Lifts.

Penny has been part of the business for more than two decades, and we wanted to recognise the important contribution she continues to make every day. For over 25 years, Penny has helped keep our offices including Bexleyheath office clean, welcoming, and comfortable for everyone who works and visits. While much of her work happens behind the scenes, it plays an important role in creating a healthy and positive working environment for the whole team.

The gifts, kind words, and birthday celebrations were just a small way of showing our appreciation for everything Penny has done for the business over the years.

Reflecting on her time at Apex, Penny said:

"I originally took the cleaning job at Apex to provide cover after my husband and I moved to Dartford in the mid-1990s. Twenty-five years later, I'm still here.

I've seen Apex grow from what felt like a small family business into a much bigger family. It's been lovely watching apprentices join straight from school and progress to become managers and supervisors. The people here have always looked after me and supported me, especially when my husband was unwell. That support has meant a great deal to me over the years. I'd like to thank everyone at Apex for their kindness and support."

Thank you, Penny, for your dedication, and everything you have done for Apex over the last 25 years. We wish you a very happy birthday and many more wonderful years ahead.
