It's today 💜🧡 The Ruby Rose Foundation, along with some of our amazing family are heading off to The BBC Make A Difference Awards where we are in the final four for the Fundraiser Of The Year category 💜🧡
Ruby’s Story 💜🧡
In March 2024, Ruby had her appendix removed. Months later, October 2024, she suddenly fell ill to what we thought was a stomach bug this turned quickly turned to Sepsis from a blockage in her bowel.
Ruby started complaining of stomach pains and had begun vomiting. Her mum then took her to A&E where it was found she had abdominal adhesions following her appendix surgery. She was then transferred to another hospital and rushed into emergency surgery to remove the adhesions. It was later found a blood clot had stopped the blood flow to her leg and it was then amputated.
It was then discovered that she had turned septic. Her condition worsened leading to her never regaining consciousness and then she begun struggling to breathe.
Due to the Sepsis she began to go into multi-organ failure, which led her parents to make the decision no parent ever should. They made the decision to remove Ruby’s life support on October 11th 2024.
Ruby was only 6 years old when this happened. As a family we are committed to raising funds and awareness on Sepsis, which hopes to ensure this does not happen to any other family.
