👋🏻 Happy Sunday! Welcome to my stop on the book tour for The Paper House by Barbara Josselsohn. 📖

A heartfelt story of letters, loss and finding your way home. 💌

Synopsis (Not my Review)

Everyone on the island would go there, not just to buy writing supplies, but to write these letters. To the people they’d not been able to say goodbye to, to the people they wished would come home. The Paper House was a place for grieving, for remembering, for forgiving.

And now, years later, as Kayla reopens the beautiful front door, and feels the memories of her Great Aunt Tilly come flooding back, it has the chance to become a place for someone who lost everything to finally find herself again.

If only Kayla can find the courage to face the ghosts of the past…

Review ✍🏻

Imagine walking into a little paper shop where the shelves are filled with colourful paper, the air is thick with memories and, if you know what to write, your letters might just reach someone you thought was lost forever. Add a mysterious shop, a wartime past, family secrets, ghosts and a woman returning home after twenty years, and I was completely sold. The Paper House gave me the cosy, magical-realism atmosphere I was hoping for — and then quietly broke my heart along the way.

Hello and welcome to my stop on the blog tour for Tell me your lies by D.K. Hood

Synopsis (Not my Review)

She’s writing your story. She knows your secrets. She’ll kill to keep them.

Alani Fairchild just landed her dream job. Isabelle Croft wants Alani to write her memoir, revealing all about her star-studded life as an actress and spilling the secrets that bind her picture-perfect family. And she will pay Alani whatever it takes to make her say yes.

Gravel crunching beneath her sneakers, Alani pretends not to see Isabelle watching her from an upstairs window of her beachfront home. Something tells her she’s made a terrible mistake. But it’s too late now as she’s welcomed inside by perfectly manicured hands and cold Gray eyes.

Perched on a silk sofa, Alani begins to write as Isabelle opens up about her marriage and struggles with fame. But when talk turns to the night of the birth of Isabelle’s first child, Alani feels the room spin. The hospital. The storm raging outside. All the same sketchy details Alani’s parents described about the night she was born… Everything in Alani’s body tells her to run. But she knows she needs to stay if she wants answers.

When Alani wakes on the floor days later, with a knife in her hand and blood on her clothes, nothing will prepare you for the twists in Isabelle and Alani’s deadly story…

D.K. Hood knows how to create that delicious feeling of unease where you just know something isn’t right, but you can’t quite work out what it is.

👋🏻 Hello, lovely readers. Happy Friday!

Some books quietly pull you in. Others refuse to let you look away.

Synopsis (Not my review)

More than a century apart the lives of two artists intersect through a series of mysterious, eerily beautiful photographs of the dead.

London, 1865. Desperate for work, Minnie takes employment as a maid for the wealthy young Culpepper twins. The siblings lead a strange and unconventional life: Edmund operates a laboratory from the house while Edith experiments with morbid photography. Drawn in by a dangerous attraction to one of the twins, and with a sick sister of her own to provide for, by the time Minnie makes a disturbing discovery it’s too late - she must stay and unravel the mysteries of Culpepper House before she becomes a victim of one of Edith’s photographs herself.

London, present day. Grieving artist Hadley is consumed by an album of Victorian death photography, including the exquisite image of a deceased young girl with a swan. When this photograph is involved in an art world scandal, Hadley is given the opportunity to create an installation surrounding the image. But the enigmatic Kit Culpepper, of the Culpepper Trust, has other plans. He offers Hadley an eye-watering sum of money to sell him the album and never speak of its contents again. As Hadley digs deeper into the album’s truths, she begins to suspect Kit Culpepper is guarding a deathly secret ... and she’s not entirely sure how far he’ll go to keep it.

Review ✍🏻

If you tell me a book is set in Victorian London, wrapped in gothic atmosphere and centred around dangerous family secrets, you’ve already convinced me. Add one of the most hauntingly beautiful covers I’ve seen this year, and All Her Beautiful Deaths became impossible to resist.
