MARK+FOLD was founded in 2015, to create an alternative to mass-market stationery. The result is a range of modern notebooks and cards, which celebrate special papers and bindings. Made on a small scale, and individually-numbered, everything we produce has been inspired by materials and the story behind their making. We like using papers made in Scotland and the Lake District, but will go as far a

way as Japan for something truly extraordinary. Our stationery is minimal, modern and elegant. We feel that a notebook belongs to its user, so as designers we exercise restraint and leave things as ‘blank’ as possible, letting the materials speak for themselves. Our process involves hand-making at our London studio, where we bind notebooks using traditional techniques. We also work closely with small specialist factories in the UK and Holland, who share our attention to detail. Since we launched in November 2015, we have released a series of limited edition notebooks, each celebrating a different material or binding technique. Since 2016 we have also run a stationery subscription, which allows our subscribers to follow each new design as it is released. We have been selling online since November 2015, and are proud to have a reached people from San Francisco to Singapore. We take great delight in wrapping items for our customers, and hand-writing receipts. In July 2017, we are opening our first shop North London. Our very special selection of stockists grows gradually over time, currently including Oliver Spencer, SCP, Harvey Nichols, The Garnered, Another Country and as of June 2017 several US stockists from New York to Aspen. Since 2016, we have been designing and making a dedicated range of stationery in collaboration with Bamford, and have some exciting collaborative projects to announce later this year. Very exciting announcement | We’re offering the opportunity to visit our UK paper mill with us this summer! We’ve never done this before and super excited to be able to do this. Spaces are very limited so we’ll be inviting all those who place a pre-order by 1st May to put their name forward and we’ll choose names from a hat to be offered a place. When you place your preorder for any 2027 diary or planner you’ll get a confirmation email with further details and a link to put your name on the list.

Day 5, Japan Paper Tour | A much anticipated visit to Awagami Paper Factory, which continues to use sustainable, traditional processes to make Japanese paper. We had the great pleasure of visiting, meeting Fujimori-San the 7th generation family owner, learning about how the paper is made, and getting a chance to make some ourselves. The shop was also very much visited ☺️
