“I just don’t think networking is for me.”

We hear women say this all the time.

But when your experience of networking has been standing awkwardly beside a closed circle, being spoken at rather than listened to, or feeling like everyone in the room is competing… can we really blame you?

What makes a networking group actually worth being part of? 💗

For one of our lovely members, it’s the support, collaboration and feeling safe enough to genuinely connect.

Some people see networking and think eurghhhh
Others see WOMENS networking and think double eurghh🙄

And maybe those are the people we created Ladies in Business for…

Because maybe you’ve been to networking before and hated it. People shoving business cards in your face before you’ve taken a sip of your drink or even had the chance to say hello.

Alls we can say (biased, I know) is that Ladies in Business truly is different.

If networking events were Tinder, how many would you have swiped left on? 😂

We've all been there.
The awkward introductions. The rehearsed elevator pitches. The person who starts selling to you before they've even asked your name.
And the pressure to somehow build a meaningful business relationship in the space of a five-minute conversation.

But the thing is... You wouldn't propose to someone on a first date, so why do we expect instant business relationships from networking?

Real relationships take time.
They start with curiosity, genuine conversations and actually wanting to get to know the person sitting opposite you. And when those relationships develop, the referrals, collaborations and business opportunities tend to follow.

That's the thinking behind Ladies in Business.

We want women to walk into our events feeling comfortable enough to be themselves, have conversations that go beyond their job titles and build a network of people who genuinely champion one another.
Because networking should feel less like a sales pitch and more like meeting people you'd actually want to see again.

How many opportunities have you missed because you’ve convinced yourself you’re not a networking person??

There’s something incredibly intimidating about walking into a room full of people who seemingly know everyone, have their business figured out and can confidently introduce themselves without breaking a sweat.

Especially when you’re still figuring it all out yourself.

Putting yourself out there can sometimes feel like knocking on the same doors over and over again 🚪😂

Posting about your business.
Introducing yourself.
Walking into another room full of people you don’t know.
Explaining what you do… again.

But that’s how people begin to recognise you, remember you and trust you.

You don’t need to be the loudest woman in the room. You just need to keep showing up, making connections and letting people get to know the person behind the business.

Confidence might not come first… but it grows every time you do it anyway 💕

Networking isn't always men in grey suits trying to prove who's got the best... handshake? 😂

As with anything, if you want to stick with something (and for it to work!!) YOU MUST ENJOY IT!!
Otherwise, what's the point?

Networking is all about building relationships and supporting each other. Shouting each others names even when you're not in the room, becomes natural. You want to see each other win.
