It's been a real pleasure having her as part of North Star over the last three years, and seeing her recognised as a finalist for the & Award at the Lancashire Business View Sub36 Awards was a fantastic moment.

She's put so much into building our brand and delivering some excellent work for our clients, so it's great to see her hard work recognised alongside some of 's best creative talent.

Although she didn't take home the award, reaching the finals is a brilliant achievement and one she should be incredibly proud of.

Well done Margaret! We're very lucky to have you as part of our little team. Keep doing what you do. 🦄

Some projects mean a little more than others.

We’re incredibly proud of our Armed Forces Champion, Dominic, who has shared his experience volunteering on the Veterans Sanctuary in Morecambe, working alongside Morecambe FC Community Foundation and local veterans to help bring the project to life.

From October 2025 through to its official opening in June 2026, Dom supported with the practical build of the new Veteran allotment site - swapping project plans and meetings for tools, muddy boots and the opportunity to get properly stuck in.

As an Army veteran himself, this was about much more than helping to build an allotment.

Dom has remained actively involved with the Armed Forces and veteran community since leaving the British Army, but this project gave him a different opportunity to contribute - getting involved practically, working alongside other local veterans and helping create a space that will continue to bring people together.

It’s a community that means a great deal to Dom, and being able to use his experience while also getting stuck into the physical build made this a particularly rewarding project to be part of.

As he puts it:
“A lot of my day-to-day work is spent behind a desk or working with people on projects, so it was great to get involved in something practical and get my hands dirty.
Working with Morecambe FC Community Foundation has given me the chance to meet other veterans from the local area and start building my own sense of community.
The Sanctuary is a fantastic resource for veterans and their families. It gives people somewhere to spend time, relax and meet others who understand some of their experiences - particularly those who might otherwise feel isolated.
On this project I was very much one of the doers, and I really enjoyed being part of turning the plans into something people can now use.”

At North Star, our commitment to the Armed Forces community is important to us. We’re proud to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust , and even prouder when that commitment is reflected in what our people choose to do beyond their day-to-day roles.

A huge well done to Dom, Morecambe FC Community Foundation and every volunteer who gave their time to create something that will continue to support veterans and their families in our local community.

And, true to the North Star way, Dom quite literally helped get stuff done. 👏

What a night for Team North Star! 🦄✨

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of attending the BIBAs 2026 as finalists for Micro Business of the Year and we’re incredibly proud to have been recognised alongside some brilliant Lancashire businesses.

We may not have taken home the trophy this time, but making the finals is absolutely something worth celebrating.

We’re a small team of 6, but over the past year we’ve continued to take on some big challenges alongside our clients working to deliver complex projects and programmes, support operational and supply chain improvements, strengthen PMO and governance, and help businesses navigate significant change.

That work, and the trust our clients place in us to deliver it, is what we’re most proud of.

Last friday gave us a chance to get the team together, celebrate how far North Star has come and enjoy being part of a room full of people doing some fantastic things across Lancashire.

A huge congratulations to this year’s Micro Business of the Year winner HEIR Salon, and to all of the finalists and winners recognised on the night. 👏

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved so far, grateful to everyone who has been part of the journey, and very excited about everything still to come.

Here's a question we often ask at the start of a transformation programme...

But beyond the marketing itself, it's her creativity, commitment, and willingness to keep pushing herself that we're most proud of.

If we had £1 for every time we heard...
"We just need more resource."
Sometimes that's true.

But often, the real challenge isn't a lack of people.
It's a lack of coordination.

Many organisations believe they need more projects, more reporting or bigger teams.
Often, what they really need is better visibility of how everything fits together.
When projects are connected through clear governance, shared visibility and regular communication, delivery becomes smoother and teams spend less time solving avoidable problems.
Success isn't always about doing more.

Quite often, it's about helping everyone move in the same direction.
That's where effective dependency management really adds value.
Sometimes the biggest improvement comes from connecting the dots that already exist rather than introducing something new.

A truth about project delivery that doesn't get talked about enough...
More often, it's hidden in the connections between projects.

A supplier running behind.
A key decision taking longer than expected.
A team supporting multiple initiatives.
One project depending on another to finish first.

These are all normal parts of project delivery.
The difference is whether they're visible and actively managed.

When dependencies are identified early, organisations gain greater control, improve collaboration and deliver with far more confidence.

One of the biggest lessons we've learned from supporting complex business transformations is that understanding the connections between projects is often just as important as understanding the projects themselves.

Managing dependencies early allows organisations to plan rather than react later.
It's one of the reasons strong PMOs spend just as much time understanding how projects connect as they do tracking progress.

The earlier you spot the link, the easier it is to manage the outcome.

As we often say:

One thing we've learned from delivering transformation programmes...
People rarely struggle because they're not working hard enough.

More often, they're working from different versions of the truth:
- One team is looking at one project plan.
- Another has their own tracker.
- Leadership has a programme dashboard.

Most project delays don't start where you think they do
In our experience, it's rarely one big issue.

More often, it's lots of small bottlenecks that quietly build over time.
• Waiting on another team
• Shared resources becoming stretched
• Decisions taking a little longer than expected
• Projects heading in slightly different directions

On their own, these don't feel like major problems.
Together, they can have a real impact on delivery.

When Great Teams Work Together, Great Projects Happen.

One of the biggest misconceptions in project delivery is that delays happen because people aren't working hard enough.

The opposite is often true.

Teams are working incredibly hard... they're just not always working in sync.
We saw this first-hand during a recent transformation programme delivering a new UK distribution centre for MegaGroup Logistic Services. Every workstream was interconnected. Warehouse fit-out, IT infrastructure, WMS, ERP integration, stock migration, operational training, carrier testing and customer communications all relied on one another.

No single team could succeed in isolation.

A delay in one area had the potential to impact every stage that followed.
That's why effective dependency management is so important.

It's not simply about knowing what needs to be done. It's about understanding what needs to happen first, who depends on it next, and how changes in one workstream can influence the wider programme.

When those connections are visible, something powerful happens.
Teams collaborate more effectively, decisions are made sooner, communication becomes clearer, and delivery gains momentum and confidence.
Good project management isn't about creating more meetings or more paperwork.
It's about creating clarity, connecting people, and ensuring everyone is working towards the same outcome.
