🕯️ HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM SHADOW HUNTERS UK! 🕯️
Norwich is a city steeped in centuries of history, ancient streets, forgotten tragedies and chilling tales of the unexplained. But when darkness falls, could the spirits of its past still be walking among us? 🖤
Let’s take a look at some of Norwich’s most famous ghost stories… 👀
👻 1. THE GHOST OF LORD SHEFFIELD – THE ADAM & EVE PUB
Dating back to the 13th century, the Adam & Eve is one of Norwich’s oldest pubs and has a chilling reputation. Legend tells of Lord Sheffield, who died during Kett’s Rebellion in 1549. His spirit is said to linger here, with reports of unexplained footsteps, sudden temperature changes and the unsettling sensation of an unseen presence touching visitors. 🍺🕯️
🖤 2. THE LADY IN BLACK – NORWICH CASTLE
With a history involving imprisonment and executions, Norwich Castle has plenty of dark stories attached to it. Among its reported apparitions is a mysterious woman dressed in black, said to have been seen floating around the castle grounds. Could she be a restless soul from the castle’s troubled past? 🏰
🌫️ 3. THE GREY LADY – THE MAIDS HEAD HOTEL
One of Norwich’s most intriguing haunted locations is the historic Maids Head Hotel. The Grey Lady is said to be a former maid whose apparition has reportedly been seen wandering the building. Some accounts describe the lingering scent of lavender accompanying her presence. Is she still carrying out her duties long after her earthly life ended? 🕯️
⚰️ 4. THE GHOSTLY GIRL OF TOMBLAND
Tombland is one of Norwich’s oldest and most atmospheric historic areas. Ghost stories tell of a mysterious grey-clad woman seen walking its ancient streets and alleyways. With so much history surrounding this part of the city, it is easy to imagine a shadow from the past appearing when least expected. 🌑
🐾 5. BLACK SHUCK – THE DEMON HOUND OF EAST ANGLIA
No Halloween in Norfolk would be complete without the legendary Black Shuck! This enormous spectral black dog, said to have burning red eyes, has terrified generations throughout East Anglia. Although its legend stretches far beyond Norwich itself, the phantom hound remains one of the region’s most famous supernatural tales.
Would you dare to walk alone through the streets of Norwich if you thought those glowing eyes were watching you from the darkness? 🐺🔥
🏚️ 6. THE HAUNTED PAST OF THE BRIDGE HOUSE
Now known as the Lollards Pit, this historic riverside location is associated with stories of unexplained screams believed to be connected to former prisoners held in the area’s old cells. Imagine hearing a desperate cry echo through the darkness when nobody else is around… would you investigate, or would you run? 😱
