HGV class 2 RCV Driver/operator Job Description:
Duties:
Carry out daily walk around checks prior to leaving the yard each morning and report any defects using the app.
Follow daily scheduled routes and collection timetables efficiently
Safely operate a commercial RCV motor vehicle to collect refuse waste and recyclable materials to designated disposal sites.
Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving
Communicate effectively with team members and customers
Follow company policies and procedures for safe handling of hazardous materials, if applicable
Working hours are typically Monday to Friday 0700 to 1500 (average 35 hours per week)
Seasonal weekend work occurs during the summer typically July & August each year
Requirements:
Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicle being operated
Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents in the past two years
Five years of experience as a truck driver preferred
Strong knowledge of traffic laws and regulations governing commercial vehicle operation
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
Physical stamina to handle manual labour and loading/unloading of wheelie bins
