After a funeral, the world can suddenly feel very quiet.

While ceremonies mark an important moment of remembrance, grief doesn’t end when the funeral finishes. For many people, that’s when the reality of loss truly begins.

As part of Demystifying Death Week, we want to gently remind people that support is available and that no one has to navigate grief alone.

We’ve created a Support After the Funeral resource page featuring organisations and services that can offer listening support, bereavement guidance, counselling, and help for those struggling after loss.

Whether you are grieving yourself or supporting someone who is, we hope this resource helps people feel a little less alone 💛

Even after 12 years as a celebrant it’s amazing that I still managed to conduct a wedding ceremony at a venue for the first time last week.

I was honoured to conduct Janine and Finlay’s wedding at Dalgarven House and the fact that Janine’s dad Owen has been a friend of mine for over 50 years made it even more special.

Demystifying Death Week is about shining a light on death, dying and bereavement in Scotland. We are encouraging people to get involved by holding in-person and online events that bring death, dying and bereavement into the limelight.

From today, Alkaline Hydrolysis, sometimes known as “water cremation”, becomes legally permitted in Scotland.

While facilities are not yet operational, this marks an important milestone in expanding end-of-life choices.

In our latest blog, we explain:
• What Alkaline Hydrolysis is
• How it is regulated
• Why this matters for equality and informed choice
• What families should realistically expect

At The Fuze Foundation, we believe compassion must include fairness and fairness includes access to clear, balanced information.

You can read the full blog here: https://fuzeceremonies.co.uk/humanist-ceremonies-blog/a-new-choice-in-scotland-understanding-alkaline-hydrolysis/

If you have questions about funeral options, our team is always here to listen.

The ring exchange. One of the most emotional, spine-tingling moments of your entire wedding day 💍

That deep breath.
That little hand squeeze.
The way your voice wobbles just slightly as you say those words that mean everything.

As your humanist celebrant, we’re standing right there with you… and trust me, it hits us in the feels every single time 🥹

There’s something so powerful about that moment. It’s simple. It’s symbolic. It’s sacred in its own quirky, beautiful way. Two people choosing each other, out loud, in front of everyone who matters most ♥️

This is why we do what we do.
For the goosebumps.
For the shaky smiles.
For the quiet “I love you” that only the two of you hear.

If you’re newly engaged or counting down to your big Scottish wedding day, just know, that ring exchange moment? It’s going to be magic ✨

We cannot wait to stand there with you when it happens.

Yesterday I conducted a wonderful wedding ceremony for Jess and Ian at Brig O Doon.
I’ve conducted many weddings there in the last 12 years and it was as beautiful as I’ve ever seen it.

I had the great pleasure of conducting Siobhan and Kenny’s very unique and personal wedding ceremony at the Engine Works yesterday. A beautiful day, a beautiful venue and a beautiful bride.
I told their personal story, and the reasons why they love each other, they drank from the Quaich and we all sang Bob Marley’s 3 Little Birds.
