Our member spotlight for October is one of our newer members, Lizzie Melvin from Elizabeth Melvin Photography.

Lizzie helps businesses to grow through imagery that reflects both them and the clients they wish to attract. Always in a natural story telling style with a twist of art!

As someone who feels awkward every time a camera is pointed in my direction (a lot of us feel like that, don’t we?), I can wholeheartedly recommend Lizzie for photography. I had a photoshoot with her a few years ago and she went out of her way to make me feel comfortable and you know what, it was actually fun!

“Start before you think you are ready and before everything is perfect. You’ll never be ready or perfect – even 20 years later!” says Lizzie

Okay, we admit it ... we got a bit sidetracked at September’s meetup, so for October we’re going to have another go at discussion Seasonal Business.

Where: The Phoenix Cafe
When: 10am Tuesday 13th October

Depending on your business that could mean different things. If you’re a tourism-focused business you could well find that you go from being run off your feet at peak times but less busy at other times of the year. Or if you’re running a service-based business it could take the form of feast or famine. How does this affect your business and how do you handle it? We’re looking forward to a lively discussion!

We're looking forward to our evening at The Copper Kettle on Tuesday. Join us for an evening of relaxed networking and get some advice on managing your business finances.

It's free to join, we just ask that you buy some refreshments to show your support for the cafe.

Happy September everybody. It's time to share a new spotlight.

Now, August has been such a busy month for everyone that our members haven't had a chance to send their details over for a spotlight. So ... this month it's going to be me 🫣

As well as being the founder of the Far West Business Network, I run Webfooted Designs, which is a web design business. My company builds websites for small businesses and non-profits, with a focus on providing services for other local businesses.

Just a quick reminder that our next meetup is coming up next week. We're going to be talking about seasonal business. I'm looking forward to an interesting discussion on how we all manage having busy times followed by slower times. Whether that's seasonal (e.g. busy with visitors in the summer) or more of a feast or famine situation that those of us running service-based businesses can experience.

September is the ideal month to get out there and meet your fellow business owners. The Far West Business Network is a friendly and welcoming group of people running businesses in the Far West of Cornwall (and a little further afield).

We're all about supporting each other - definitely not your typical business networking where you get a bunch of men in suits doing the hard sell (I promise!).

We've got two events planned for September:

Firstly, we've got our regular Tuesday morning meeting coming up on the 8th September.

We’re going to have a discussion on seasonal business.

And then on the 15th September we've got our next evening event at the Copper Kettle. Our theme for the evening is a Finance Surgery with Scarlett Cohen giving some top tips and answering your questions about managing your business finances.
