🔨 Meet Mike Conroy of Surrey Auctions – Petworth
Every auction has a story, and for Mike Conroy, owner of Surrey Auctions, it’s the stories behind the items that make his job so rewarding.
With around 60 years of family experience in the auction business, Mike has a real passion for discovering the history, character and value of the items that come through his doors. From gold, silver, watches and jewellery to medals, military memorabilia and treasured family possessions, no two days are ever the same.
One of the things Mike loves most is the variety of his work – you never quite know what might turn up or what fascinating story an item might tell. A particularly memorable sale was a silver rose bowl, won by Watford Football Club in 1898 when they won the First Division of the Southern League. It eventually sold for £8,500 to Watford Museum, returning a special piece of the club’s history to its rightful home!
Mike is passionate about making the auction process as straightforward and enjoyable as possible. His approach is friendly, warm and personal, whether you’re bringing an item into the shop or arranging a home visit for a valuation.
