Feleena Grosvenor held her 3rd criminal barrister workshop for Pathways to Law at Exeter University

On 16 September 2026, Feleena Grosvenor held her annual criminal barrister workshop for Pathways to Law at Exeter University, with assistance from Ella Griffin.

Pathways to Law, https://law.exeter.ac.uk/community/pathwaystolaw/, is a programme which provides opportunities for sixth form students who are interested in law, and is offered through 7 UK universities. The programme targets high-achieving students in state schools and colleges who will be the first generation in their family to attend university.

The criminal workshop provided an insight into how the students can become a criminal barrister and what to expect as one. Feleena and Ella explained and demonstrated the common "plea in mitigation" exercise found at interviews for Bar school and pupillage. It was an interactive opportunity for the students to try their advocacy.

Our mini-pupillage application window is now open for 2027. It will close on 19th December 2026.

KBG continue to recognise that investing in our pupils is an investment in our future. Lincoln's Inn offers a mini-pupillage grant scheme, which provides financial support to students wishing to undertake a mini-pupillage who would otherwise not be able to do so. Grants are intended to assist with the costs of travel and accommodation, as well as a clothing allowance if needed. Charlotte Davies, Head of Civil, recently succeeded in obtaining declaratory and vesting relief for the administrator of an estate in an unusual Part 8 claim in the County Court. The case is a useful illustration of how the Trustee Act 1925, the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 and Schedule 4 to the Land Registration Act 2002 fit together when a registered title has to be put right against an absent proprietor, and of why a sole personal representative does not need a co-trustee to sell.

Charlotte Davies takes KBG Chambers across the Atlantic

What does a barrister from Cornwall make of the American federal court system? Charlotte Davies found out this summer, meeting Senior Attorneys of the Administrative Office of the United States Courts in the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building and observing a hearing at the US District Court for the District of Columbia as the guest of Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui.

Charlotte's travel companion, Archbold the Bearister, a bear you may recognise from the famous KBG merchandise offering, has authored a piece about the worthwhile trip.

After completing a successful pupillage, Melina Mukherjee has accepted an offer of tenancy at KBG. Melina will become a tenant on the 1st September.

Abbie, Ella and Stephen attended the Cornwall Junior Law Society Boat Party on Friday, a fantastic event held in collaboration with RICS.
The boat departed from Falmouth and travelled up the River Fal, with drinks, pizza and a great atmosphere throughout the evening.
It was fantastic to see junior members of the profession coming together to socialise, network and build connections — something that KBG Chambers is proud to support and encourage.
Abbie and Ella are both on the Cornwall Junior Law Society committee and are always pleased to welcome new members, as well as non-members, to attend and get involved with future events.

Rachel is an experienced family law practitioner specialising in private law children disputes. She has built a strong reputation for representing clients in complex and often highly sensitive cases involving the welfare of children. Rachel is particularly experienced in supporting vulnerable clients, combining sound legal expertise with a compassionate and pragmatic approach during what can be an exceptionally difficult time for families.
Her practice includes cases involving allegations of domestic abuse, and she regularly appears at fact-finding hearings concerning serious allegations of physical and sexual abuse. Rachel is recognised for her thorough preparation, measured advocacy and commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for her clients.

FAMILY PRACTICE MANAGER POSITION

KBG Chambers is a thriving multi-disciplinary set of over 50 barristers operating out of Plymouth and Truro. Our Family Team of barristers is one of the largest and busiest on circuit comprising of over 30 members.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our very experienced Family Clerking Team as a Family Practice Manager. The successful applicant will work 5 days a week from our Plymouth Chambers at the Royal William Yard.

Responsibilities

The job will primarily involve diary management of our members of Chambers, ensuring fair allocation of work, taking new bookings, recording incoming briefs and correspondence, checking court lists, making listing requests with the court and dealing with email and telephone enquiries. You will need to be a confident person who is happy meeting and greeting barristers, other clerks and customers every day in a very busy office environment.

The successful candidate must have experience in working in Family Law, whether it be through working for a solicitors, local authority or other agency.

KBG Chambers is delighted to announce that Rachael Parkhouse will be joining Chambers on 5 August 2026.

Rachael is a highly regarded family law practitioner, with a distinguished practice, specialising in complex and contentious public and private law children proceedings. She is regularly instructed in challenging fact-finding hearings involving allegations of non-accidental injury, physical and sexual abuse, fabricated or induced illness (FII), neglect, and domestic abuse.

An exceptional advocate, Rachael is particularly recognised for her skilful handling of complex evidence and sensitive cross-examination of vulnerable witnesses. She has successfully completed the FLBA Vulnerable Witness Training and is experienced in conducting some of the most demanding cases before the Family Court.
