Did you miss our podcast on AI in healthcare?

In a previous episode, Matt Baker, Applied AI and Innovation Lead at Delt, explored the opportunities, challenges and responsibilities that come with deploying AI tools across healthcare and primary care settings.

AI is transforming healthcare, helping to reduce administrative burdens and giving valuable time back to frontline teams. But as we embrace new technologies, an important question remains, how do we ensure AI is implemented ethically and without increasing digital inequality?

From the government's vision for an AI-enabled health system to the practical realities of adoption, this is an essential listen for healthcare leaders, clinicians and public sector innovators navigating digital transformation.

This week, we're recognising National Payroll Week and taking the opportunity to say a huge thank you to our Payroll team for the essential work they do behind the scenes every day.

Payroll is one of those services that people often only notice when something goes wrong. Yet, week after week, month after month, our team works diligently to ensure colleagues are paid accurately and on time, while managing complex legislation, compliance requirements, pensions, deductions, and much more.

Their work supports every part of ours and our customer's organisations, providing reassurance that employees can focus on delivering great services, knowing their pay is in safe hands.

Thank you to our Payroll team for the vital role you play in supporting our workforce and our customers!

Yesterday, colleagues across our offices enjoyed an end-of-summer cream tea, organised by our Events Team.

It was a particularly busy day in our Plymouth office, where we were also welcoming new starters through our Corporate Induction. Alongside learning about Delt, our services and meeting colleagues from across the business, they were able to join in and experience one of the ways we bring people together.

We're proud to keep things local wherever we can, and that definitely extends to our cream teas. A big thank you to Langage Farm Dairy for supplying the fresh clotted cream and Friary Mill Bakery for the delicious scones.

A simple way to bring colleagues together, support local suppliers and round off the summer!

Now for the important question, jam or cream first?

Last week, colleagues swapped screens for paddleboards, kayaks and time on the water at our latest wellbeing event.

Supporting both our physical and social wellbeing pillars, the evening was a great opportunity to get active, connect with colleagues from across the business and enjoy some fun outside of work.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a fantastic evening. Take a look at some of the highlights below!

At Delt, we see first-hand the opportunities and challenges that come with digital transformation.

David Wilson, our Head of IT Operations, shares his perspective on why organisations can become haunted by the "ghosts" of previous transformation programmes, and what it takes to create meaningful, lasting change.

Recent excitement surrounding AI has me thinking about a frequent, sober reality in public sector digital transformation. Most initiatives start with immense enthusiasm, the right ideas, and incredibly talented people.

What’s it really like to work on the front line of IT support?

In this episode of our podcast: Leading Through Shared Insights, hosts Nicola Bonas and Matt Baker sit down with Service Desk Technicians, James Godfrey and Jesse Wood, to explore the people behind the phones, tickets, and technology that keep critical services running every day.

The idea for this episode came from James, who approached Nicola with the suggestion of sharing a behind-the-scenes look at life on the service desk. It's a fantastic example of how ideas from anywhere in the business can be heard, supported, and turned into something valuable for everyone.

From password resets and technical troubleshooting to supporting hospitals, councils, and frontline public services, James and Jesse share their experiences of balancing technical expertise with empathy, communication, and customer care. They discuss the challenges of handling complex issues, the importance of teamwork across IT support functions, and how a simple conversation can make a lasting difference to a customer's day.

The episode also highlights the value of collaboration, career development, and creating a positive customer experience, even when technology doesn't go to plan.

Above all, it's a reminder that great service is about more than fixing problems. It's about people helping people.

We're excited to announce the launch of Delt Recruitment Services, bringing our recruitment expertise to organisations across the South West and beyond.

Leading the service is Jenn Scott, our Recruitment Business Partner. Through building strong relationships, understanding what motivates people, and connecting organisations with exceptional talent, she brings a people-first approach to every stage of the recruitment journey.

For Jenn, recruitment has always been about more than filling vacancies:

"Building great teams starts with understanding people. Recruitment isn't just about filling a role; it's about creating meaningful connections between talented individuals and organisations where they can thrive. I support managers throughout the process, helping them make confident hiring decisions while ensuring candidates have a positive experience every step of the way."

At Delt, we've built a successful recruitment function that not only supports our own growth, but also helps organisations recruit confidently, fairly and effectively. Whether you need support with a single vacancy, additional recruitment capacity, or help with a wider recruitment campaign, Jenn and the team can provide practical, end-to-end support tailored to your needs.

Our approach is simple: find the right people, deliver a great recruitment experience and help organisations build strong teams for the future, all for a 10% flat fee, regardless of salary.

We look forward to partnering with organisations across the South West and beyond to help them find the people who will make a real difference.

Could Delt support your recruitment plans? We'd love to hear from you.

At Delt, we believe that giving back to our communities is an important part of wellbeing.

That's why we offer all colleagues two paid charity leave days each year, giving them the opportunity to support causes and projects that matter to them while developing new skills and experiences along the way.

Recently, one of our Project Managers, Kathryn, used her charity leave to volunteer on a community archaeology project. Working alongside professional archaeologists, Kathryn helped excavate the remains of a Roman villa, including foundations, a mosaic floor, bath house and kilns.

Kathryn said:

“It was a brilliant experience and completely outside my comfort zone. Being handed a trowel on day one and told to be brave, then a pickaxe on day two and told to be even braver, was not what I’d expected! But after a little while, I loved it – and didn’t break anything I shouldn’t have.”

Community engagement is a key part of our wellbeing approach at Delt. Whether it's volunteering, fundraising, mentoring or supporting local initiatives, we're proud to give our people the time and support to make a difference.
