Cyber threats are evolving fast, but does the response need to be complicated?

In the latest episode of our Leading through shared insights podcast, Nicola Bonas and Matt Baker are joined by our Chief Information Officer, Paul Jones, to discuss why cyber security is a core organisational risk, not just an IT issue.

From the growing impact of AI on cyber threats to the importance of strong cyber hygiene, resilience, and the "human firewall", the conversation focuses on the practical steps organisations can take to reduce risk and prepare for disruption.

The message is simple: stay calm, get the fundamentals right, and build resilience.

Yesterday afternoon, the Delt Events Team helped everyone make the most of the warm weather with a surprise visit from an ice cream van to our Plymouth site. Employees were able to collect vouchers and take a break outside to enjoy a well-earned treat in the sunshine.

A big thank you to the Events Team for organising, to everyone who took part and helped create a positive atmosphere throughout the day, and of course to Nicky's Ices!

For colleagues based in North Somerset, tokens were also provided for use at PJ’s Ice Cream Parlour in Weston-super-Mare, ensuring wider participation across our teams.

Initiatives like this support our wider social wellbeing pillar, which ultimately helps to encourage a positive workplace culture across Delt! 🍦

We’re excited to launch the first episode of our new podcast in our “Leading Through Shared Insights” thought leadership series.

In this episode, hosts Matt Baker., Delt Customer Architect, and Nicola Bonas, Delt's Chief Customer Officer, explore a fast-emerging topic in healthcare: Ambient Voice Technology (AVT), AI tools that listen in clinical consultations and take care of the note-taking, so clinicians can focus more on patients and less on admin.

It sounds simple, less typing, more talking. But is it really that straightforward?

We explore what AVT could bring, from giving clinicians back valuable time to improving patient connection, alongside the real-world challenges including clinical safety and oversight, and accuracy in busy, multi-speaker environments.

We’re also opening the door to the wider community.

If you’re a healthcare leader, clinician, or public sector innovator working with Ambient Voice Technology or navigating AI in primary care, we’d love to hear from you, whether as a future guest or a collaborator sharing real-world experience.

Get in touch with our team at [email protected] if you're interested in getting involved.

Is your organisation prepared for the next shift in cyber risk? Frontier AI is rapidly changing the cyber landscape, not by creating entirely new threats, but by accelerating the speed, scale and accessibility of existing ones.

In our latest Leading Through Shared Insights piece, our Chief Information Officer, Paul Jones, shares his views on what this means for leaders right now.

From AI speeding up how quickly attackers can find weaknesses, to the shrinking time between a vulnerability being discovered and being exploited, the takeaway is clear: Rather than panic, this is an opportunity to prepare.

Key focus areas include:

• Strengthening visibility and vulnerability management

• Accelerating detection and response

• Reinforcing business continuity

• Ensuring suppliers can keep pace

• Treating cyber resilience as a leadership priority

Supporting local services is about finding practical ways to make things easier for residents and council teams alike.

As Plymouth rolls out its new city-wide food waste recycling service, we’ve been pleased to support our valued partner, Plymouth City Council, behind the scenes to help make the transition as smooth as possible for households across the city.

The new service is an important step towards reducing food waste and creating renewable energy and fertiliser from materials that would otherwise go to landfill.

Working alongside the Council’s Food Waste Team, we supported the first phase of resident communications, helping ensure people received clear information at the right time. One simple but effective idea was delivering guidance leaflets inside the new food waste bins themselves, making it easier for residents to access the information when they needed it.

Alongside print and mail support, our teams also helped with updates to collection information online and supported the move to a new system for managing bin collections.

Projects like this show the value of close collaboration between local organisations, especially when delivering large-scale public services that directly impact communities.

A big well done to everyone involved in delivering such an important initiative for the city.
