A line from Wednesday's Gen Z talk really resonated: be transparent about when you use AI. Authenticity builds trust.

So, honestly: I love AI. I use it every day, and I encourage our brands to use it too.

This week I built tools, the kind big retailers use to turn your Shopify reports into the headlines that matter. AI made it fast.

A client asked: can I just do this with AI? Yes. One caveat: AI is only as good as the brief you give it.

It's not fewer babies. It's different spending.

The sustainable toy market is growing around 12 to 13% a year, even as conventional toys soften.

Parents are choosing on materials. What their child touches, plays with, and for a baby, puts in their mouth.

So 'decline' is really a reallocation. Spend moving toward better, safer, more responsible products.

That's not a threat to good businesses. It's the opportunity.

Birth rates are falling.

Fewer babies = a smaller baby products market.

This isn't a temporary dip. It's a demographic reality.

A statistic that stopped us scrolling this week.

The UK toy market grew to £3.9 billion in 2025, its first growth year in five years.

But here's the surprising part...

Toys bought for children grew by 4%

'Kidults' (15+ yrs) buying toys for themselves grew by 10%

'Kidults' now account for £1 in every £3 spent on toys in the UK.

It raises some fascinating questions about changing consumer behaviour and where families are choosing to spend their money.

Could this trend extend beyond toys and into the wider children's product industry?
