Time to polish up your binoculars!

This June, 18 vintage Douglas DC-3/C-47 Dakotas from the US will cross the Atlantic to join up with 17 European-based Dakotas at Duxford, UK, for a 75th anniversary of D-Day fly past.

The 35 aircraft will be based at Duxford from 2-5 June. On 5th June, 250 men and women will board the aircraft to cross the English Channel (via Southend/Shoebury) and jump into the historic drop zones of Normandy. They will be wearing WWII-style Allied uniforms and will use military round parachutes – just like in 1944.

The Dakotas will remain at Caen in Normandy from 5-9 June.

The timings quoted by the official site show that the formation will be passing:
Colchester between 13.10 to 13.50
Maidstone between 13.25 to 14.00

Make your own calculations as to their time of flying over Southend.
