We’re asking everyone to take a little extra care when disposing of batteries, disposable v**es and other battery-powered devices.🔥 Please never put batteries or v**es in general waste bins.
When batteries are damaged or crushed during waste collection and processing, they can short-circuit and catch fire. Vapes can pose the same risk because they contain lithium-ion batteries.
These fires can cause serious injury, damage property and put our waste collection and recycling teams at risk.

🔋 Please help us keep everyone safe
🗑️ Never put batteries or v**es in general waste or recycling bins.
🔩 Keep loose batteries away from metal objects and never damage, crush or puncture them.
♻️ Take batteries and v**es to an appropriate recycling or disposal point.
⚠️ If a battery or v**e is damaged, swollen, leaking or unusually hot, do not put it in any bin. Seek advice on safe disposal.

Due to the high temperatures today, our site gates will be closing at 2:00 PM to help protect the wellbeing of our hardworking outdoor team.

We know this may cause some inconvenience and we apologise for any disruption. Our staff have been working hard in the heat, and while we're tough, even the Fawkes team know when it's time to find some shade and a cold drink! 😎🥤

If you are planning to tip today, please make sure you arrive before 2:00 PM.

With the hot weather continuing into Saturday 27 June, we'd like to remind everyone taking part in Sparkle Night Walk to plan ahead and take care in the heat. 🌞

Please bring your own water to help stay hydrated throughout the evening. There will also be water stations at the start, halfway point and finish.

We also recommend wearing suncream and weather-appropriate clothing, such as a hat, and taking time to look after yourself before and during the walk.

So many people know mine and Steve's story and why we took over the business, but some may not.

One thing I want everyone to know is this...

If one of our staff gets something wrong, we will always be the first to deal with it. That's our responsibility as business owners.

But it works both ways.

We genuinely care about every member of our team, and we will never stand by and allow them to be spoken to or treated like rubbish. They work incredibly hard, especially in all weathers, and they deserve respect just like everyone else.

Steve and I have always believed that we're just custodians of this business. Money comes and goes, but people matter. People's feelings matter. Looking after our team will always come first.

🌞 Heatwave Update – Early Site Closure 🌞

Due to the continued hot weather and to help protect the wellbeing of our yard team, the last tipping time at our site will be 2:00 pm today and tomorrow.

🚛 Last tip: 2:00 pm
📍 Please plan your visit accordingly to avoid disappointment.

We're hoping to be back to our normal operating hours next week once temperatures return to a safer level.

👷 Meet the Employee – Dug our Head of Maintenance 🔧

At Fawkes Recycling, we're proud of the people who keep our operation running, and this week we're shining the spotlight on Dug.

Dug has been part of the team for over four years, although he's certainly not new to the business. Before joining Fawkes Recycling, he worked with H R Skips, bringing with him years of valuable experience and knowledge.

It's actually quite difficult to describe Dug's role because there isn't much he can't do! Whether it's welding, repairing, fabricating, maintaining equipment, or somehow getting the impossible working again, Dug is always the man for the job.

Every site needs someone like Dug – the person everyone turns to when something breaks, needs fixing, or requires a bit of ingenuity. His skills, dedication, and willingness to help make him an invaluable member of our team.

We're incredibly lucky to have him, and our operation simply wouldn't be the same without him.

Thank you for everything you do, Dug! 👏🔧⚙️
