🧸 Jellycats for Remembering Romeo 🧸

We are incredibly proud to have presented a cheque for £521 to Remembering Romeo following our Jellycats for Remembering Romeo raffle.

This wonderful total would not have been possible without the incredible generosity of our local community. Every ticket purchased, every share, every kind word and every act of support has helped make a real difference.

A heartfelt thank you to Charnley's Charnleys Home & Garden for hosting the raffle, to everyone who took part, and to the wonderful family behind Remembering Romeo for everything they do to support bereaved families.

Congratulations to our raffle winner, and thank you to everyone who helped make this fundraiser such a success.

This raffle was inspired by the belief that even the smallest acts of kindness can bring comfort and hope. Seeing our community come together in support of such an important cause has been truly heartwarming.

From all of us at Co-op Funeralcare Ulverston, thank you for helping us support such a meaningful cause. 💙

🌿 Caring for our Garden of Remembrance 🌿

After hearing concerns from members of our community about the condition of the Garden of Remembrance at Ulverston Cemetery, our team was pleased to spend time helping to restore this special place.

A Garden of Remembrance is somewhere families come to reflect, remember and feel close to those they love. It should always be a peaceful, welcoming space where people can spend time remembering those who are important to them.

We rolled up our sleeves to clear weeds, trim overgrown areas and make a great start on bringing the garden back to its best. There's still more to do, and we hope to return soon to continue caring for this special space. 🍃

A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time and effort, including our Co-op Ulverston team, cemetery staff and RSPB. Together, we can help keep this peaceful place looking its best for the families who visit. 🩵

🪡 A Tribute as Unique as the Life It Celebrated 🧵

Every life is unique, and we believe every funeral should be too.

Recently, we had the privilege of supporting the family of a lady whose lifelong passion was working with natural fibres. What began with collecting clumps of fleece from hedgerows and fence wires whilst on holiday with her four sons grew into a lifelong love of spinning, felting, weaving and knitting. Over the years, she created beautiful handmade pieces that became a huge part of her life.

During the funeral arrangement, the family shared that traditional floral tributes didn't feel right. They wanted the coffin to reflect who she was but were concerned it would look bare without flowers.

Together, we explored different ideas and agreed that decorating her willow coffin with her own handcrafted creations would be a beautiful way to honour her life and celebrate her passion.

Before the funeral, the family brought in a selection of her handmade pieces, and together we carefully chose where each one would be placed on the willow coffin, creating a tribute that was deeply personal and truly reflected the person she was.

The tribute continued at the wake, where her spinning wheel and more of her handcrafted creations were displayed, celebrating the craft that had brought her so much joy throughout her life.

It was a privilege to work alongside the family to help bring their vision to life and help create a farewell that celebrated a talented life.

Sometimes the most beautiful tributes aren't flowers at all—they're the things that tell the story of a life well lived. 💙

💙 Meet the Team – Andy 💙

Today we'd like to introduce you to Andy, a valued member of our Funeral Service Crew.

Andy has been part of the Co-op family for 15 years. He originally worked as a Funeral Arranger before moving into our Back of House Team, where he felt he could make an even greater difference to the families we support.

When asked what he enjoys most about his role, Andy said:
"Making sure every person in our care is looked after with dignity and respect. Preparing someone so they look peaceful and cared for, and helping to give their family a lasting, comforting memory."

For Andy, the day of the funeral is all about teamwork.
"We all work together with one shared goal – caring for the person who has died and supporting their family, helping to make one of life's hardest days as gentle and dignified as possible."

Although families may not always meet Andy, he wants them to know just how much care takes place behind the scenes.
"We take all the time needed to care for your loved one, so when you come to visit them, they have been treated with the dignity, respect and compassion they deserve."

Thank you, Andy, for your dedication and for everything you do for the families we have the privilege to care for. 💙

Talking about funerals isn't always easy, but having those conversations before they're needed can bring comfort and clarity to the people we love most. 🐘🩶

🧡 Bespoke Floral Arrangements 🧡

Here at Co-op Funeralcare Ulverston, we recently had the privilege of arranging this truly unique and thoughtfully designed floral tribute.

Before his passing, the gentleman shared one special wish—that his favourite flower, the Bird of Paradise, would be included in his funeral service. This wish inspired the creation of this vibrant and beautiful floral spray, featuring a striking blend of Birds of Paradise, protea, orchids and complementary blooms.

Bespoke floral arrangements can tell the story of a person's life without saying a single word. Every flower, colour and detail can reflect their personality, passions and the memories they leave behind. This tribute, in particular, beautifully captured the gentleman's vibrant spirit and colourful personality, creating a meaningful and personal farewell.

At Co-op Funeralcare Ulverston, we understand how important these personal touches can be, and we're honoured to help families create tributes that celebrate each loved one in a truly individual way.

Thank you to Floral & Hardy Ulverston for always supplying such beautiful arrangements 💜
