After 41 years, we say a very fond farewell to Julie Borland at our Blackpool cab manufacturing site, as her incredible journey with Dennis Eagle comes to an end. 🌟

Julie first joined the company in 1982, when our production facilities were based in Guildford, Surrey. Starting in the Purchasing Department, she was responsible for ordering supplies and quickly became a valued member of the team. πŸš›

When the factory closed in 1985 and operations moved to Blackpool, Julie relocated with five other members of staff, making Blackpool not only her new place of work, but her forever home.

At the time, the site was home to Duple Coachbuilders, where Julie worked in Purchase Ledger before being promoted to Company Cashier. Following the closure of Duple, cab production continued at Blackpool, and Julie moved into the Finance team. She later returned to college to gain her accounting qualification, going on to become Assistant Accountant.

Cool, calm and collected, Julie has been an instrumental part of the team, helping to keep a tight ship in the numbers department. Whether colleagues needed knowledge, guidance or support, Julie was someone they could always rely on – carrying out her role with kindness, patience and a smile. πŸ’™

Julie also became an important mentor to Olivia Deehan, who joined the business as an apprentice. Over the past four years, Julie has taken Olivia under her wing, supporting her through her accounting apprenticeship and passing on the knowledge, experience and wisdom gained throughout her own career. ✨

Reflecting on her time with the business, Julie shared that it has always been the people, the camaraderie and the laughs along the way that helped keep her going through all those month ends! πŸ“ŠπŸ“ˆ

As for retirement, Julie is looking forward to spending more time with family and friends, enjoying holidays, and tackling the house and garden – which had better brace itself, as the DIY queen has a long list to complete! πŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎπŸ‘

Happy retirement, Julie! Thank you for your outstanding contribution, loyalty and dedication. You leave behind a lasting legacy at Blackpool and will be greatly missed by everyone who has had the pleasure of working with you. πŸŽ‰πŸΎπŸ₯‚

Following Dennis Eagle Blackpool’s win in the Collaboration category at the 2025 Lancashire Red Rose Awards, we made a commitment to bring our Dennis to the Rescue School Sustainability Programme to young people across the Lancashire region. πŸš› πŸ“š

That commitment was recently delivered through a week of school visits across Fylde, Pendle, Rossendale and Blackburn, led by Oliver Minett, Ketna Mistry and Neil Yarnold, with support from Peter Nichols on the first day of the programme.

Nearly 1,200 pupils were reached during the week through hosted assemblies, interactive sessions on board our mobile classroom and practical activities, including a mock litter pick. These sessions allowed pupils to explore topics relating to waste and recycling, while learning how small everyday actions can help protect the planet. β™»οΈπŸŒ

As part of the programme, pupils in Years 4 and 5 worked through bespoke Dennis to the Rescue activity books supplied by SKIPS Educational. They were also given the opportunity to enter an online competition and a poster competition. πŸ†

The winning pupils and participating schools were presented with certificates and prizes, recognising their creativity in helping to share the importance of sustainability and their support for the programme. πŸ…

A huge thank you to Skips Educational, all the schools, teachers, and pupils who took part, and to Fylde Council, Pendle Borough Council, Rossendale Borough Council, and Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council for their support, which enabled us to deliver a successful programme focused on using education to inspire positive, lasting changes in attitudes and behaviours towards waste and recycling. ✨
