🚨 RATS DON’T JUST GET IN — THEY EXPLOIT THE WEAKEST POINTS! ‼️

During a recent inspection, we identified an opening around the washing machine water inlet pipework, providing rats with access directly into the kitchen and beyond.

Further investigation, including the removal of the kitchen sink kickboard, revealed additional concerns beneath the units, with visible structural damage to the void wall and gaps around the drainage pipework.

⚠️ Simply treating the infestation isn't enough. Without identifying and addressing the underlying access points, rodents can continue to enter and move through concealed voids within the property.

At Cedar Pest Control, we focus on the bigger picture:

✅ Identifying rodent ingress points
✅ Investigating concealed areas and vulnerable pipework
✅ Assessing structural defects and potential access routes
✅ Targeted pest control, proofing and exclusion
✅ Practical recommendations to help prevent future activity
✅️Repair and seal gaps within the damaged void wall.
✅Address vulnerable openings surrounding the drainage pipework.

THE MOUSE HIGHWAY INTO THIS PROPERTY ‼️

Think your garage is just a storage space? For mice, it can be the perfect gateway into your home!

At this property, mice were gaining access through gaps around pipework, creating a potential route from the garage into the house. The solution? Clear the contamination, seal the entry points and stop unwanted visitors getting in!

✅ Full Garage Clearance & Clean-Up – Removal of accumulated debris and contaminated materials, including mouse droppings, to help restore a cleaner and safer environment.

✅ Pipework Proofing – Sealing gaps around service pipes where mice can exploit openings to gain access indoors.

✅ Structural Proofing – Addressing vulnerable gaps along the lower garage beam and wall junctions to reduce further entry opportunities.

✅ Prevention-Focused Approach – Identifying and securing potential access routes rather than simply treating the symptoms.

RATS WILL GO TO EXTREME LENGTHS FOR FOOD! ‼️

Did you know rats will go all out to reach a reliable food source? They can exploit surprisingly small weaknesses through your property and will gnaw through materials to gain access.

The area beneath kitchen units can become a major hotspot for rodent activity. In this case, rats have gnawed through the plasterboard to gain access, creating a route into the kitchen area.

One of the biggest giveaways? Smear marks.

Rats repeatedly use the same routes, leaving behind dark, greasy marks as the oils and dirt from their coats rub against walls, floors, pipework and other surfaces. These signs can help us identify the routes being used and trace activity back towards potential entry points.

✅️ Spot the signs. Find the route. Stop the access.

Proofing works are now to be completed internally and externally, sealing vulnerable access points and helping prevent further rodent ingress.

Serious Mouse Damage & Entry Points‼️

Significant evidence of mouse activity and associated damage was identified during the inspection.

The carpets have been extensively gnawed and damaged, with substantial nesting material and debris present around the perimeter of the room and beneath/along the carpet edges. An exposed Ethernet cable has also been gnawed, demonstrating further damage caused by mouse activity and highlighting the potential for continued damage to the property and furniture if left untreated.

Inspection identified a likely point of entry beneath the internal doorway, with mice gaining access through gaps and voids within the floorboards behind the carpet. The damaged flooring and open voids provide suitable access for rodents to move between concealed areas and the occupied room.

The extent of the damage indicates that this is more than isolated activity, and immediate remedial proofing works will be completed on the second visit.
