David Wackett talks us through more of the remarkable Czilinsky Collection, coming to auction at Ewbank’s on 25 September.

Across three generations, the Czilinsky family produced intricately carved luxury handles for some of London’s most prestigious retailers, including Swaine & Adeney, Brigg and Paragon S. Fox & Co. Limited.

Among them was Emil Czilinsky, who trained as a wood and ivory carver alongside his brothers, continuing the remarkable family tradition of creating highly detailed animal headed handles for walking sticks and umbrellas.

Introduced by David Wackett, this remarkable Czilinsky patent walking cane features a cockatoo handle with glass eyes. Pressing the button raises its crest and releases a concealed pencil.

Hallmarked London 1903 with Ferdinand Czilinsky’s rare F.Cz maker’s mark, and offered with direct family provenance.
