🌟 The Mary Bond Civic Award – Young Volunteer of the Year 🌟

As part of the Chairman’s Civic Awards 2026, Wombourne Parish Council is proud to introduce this special new award in memory of the wonderful late councillor Mary Bond. 💙

This award recognises an outstanding young person, aged 17 or under, who has made a positive impact on our village through volunteering, fundraising or supporting local and national good causes.

Councillor Mary Bond served on Wombourne Parish Council for more than 20 years and was passionate about supporting young people in the community. This award has been co-created by councillor Barry Bond MBE and our chairman, Councillor Elizabeth Keeling, to honour Mary’s lifelong dedication and legacy.

🏆 Award Criteria:
✔️ Open to people who live or volunteer in Wombourne
✔️ Nominees must be aged 17 or under
✔️ Nominees should demonstrate an impressive record of voluntary service
✔️ This could include fundraising, volunteering or supporting local or national charities and community causes

📢 We're Recruiting: Clerk to the Council & Responsible Financial Officer (RFO)

Wombourne Parish Council is seeking an exceptional leader to become our next Clerk & Responsible Financial Officer.

This is a rare opportunity to lead one of Staffordshire's largest parish councils, serving a thriving community of approximately 15,000 residents.

As the council's most senior officer, you will provide strategic leadership, governance advice and financial management whilst overseeing a diverse range of community services, facilities and assets.

You will play a key role in shaping the future of the council as we prepare for the 2027 local elections and anticipated local government reform.

📍 Wombourne Civic Centre, South Staffordshire
⏰ 35 hours per week, 5 days per week (Mon & Fri: 8:30am to 2:00pm, Tue, Wed, Thu: 8:30am to 5:00pm with 30 mins unpaid lunch)
💷 Salary: £44,075 - £57,139 (LC3) FTE, band and salary point to be determined based on qualifications, skills and experience
