As the evenings start to cool and log burners begin coming back into use, now is a really good time to make sure your chimney is ready for the season ahead.

Is anyone else starting to feel that autumn damp in the house?

We’ve absolutely loved the summer, but there’s definitely a change in the air now! Those cooler, damper evenings are beginning to creep in.

Lighting the log burner for a few hours in the evening is a lovely way to take that damp feeling out of the house — and hopefully means we can put off turning the central heating on for a little while longer!

🔥 Why kiln-dried logs cost more… and why we’re working hard to hold our prices 🔥

You’ve probably seen the headlines over recent weeks about uncertainty affecting fuel prices. With diesel costs rising again and the high energy demand needed to kiln dry logs, our production costs continue to increase.

Despite this, we’re doing everything we can to hold our prices and avoid passing those increases on to our customers.

But it’s worth remembering that not all logs are the same.

🌳 Seasoned (air-dried) logs
• Naturally dried outdoors over many months.
• Moisture content can vary depending on the weather and how they’re stored.
• Often produce more smoke, are harder to light and can give off less heat.
• May not always meet the Ready to Burn moisture standard.

🔥 Our kiln-dried logs
• Dried in a controlled kiln to below 20% moisture, meeting the Woodsure Ready to Burn standard.
• Light quickly and burn hotter.
• Produce significantly less smoke and soot.
• Give a cleaner, more efficient burn, helping reduce chimney deposits.
• More of the wood’s energy goes into producing heat rather than evaporating excess moisture.

Although kiln drying is more expensive, you’re getting a premium product that burns better, lasts longer in use and gives you more usable heat.

There’s nothing better than making the most of these warm summer evenings. 🍕🔥

Whether you’re cooking pizzas, relaxing around the fire pit, or enjoying time with family and friends, it’s impossible not to love being outdoors at the moment.

However, with the prolonged hot, dry weather, the ground and surrounding vegetation are extremely dry, so it’s more important than ever to burn responsibly.

Please take a moment to follow the simple safety tips in our poster:

💧 Always have water or a hose close by.
🌬️ Avoid burning on windy evenings.
🪵 Only burn the amount of wood you need.
🚒 Make sure your fire is completely extinguished before leaving it unattended.
