National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India Limited National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India (NCDFI), based in Anand (Gujarat), is an apex body of dairy cooperatives.

Its members include federal dairy cooperatives of states and union territories. The primary objective of NCDFI is to facilitate the working of dairy cooperatives through coordination, networking, and advocacy. To facilitate fair, fast, and transparent trading of Dairy, Agri, Chemical, Sugar, Service contracts, and a host of other commodities through e-auctions, the NCDFI initiated a National level eMarket portal. This provides an opportunity for both sellers and buyers of Dairy and Agri commodities along with services for dairies to have a common platform for trading these products and services. The major cooperative brands associated with NCDFI eMarket presently include Amul/Sagar, Nandini, Aavin, Saras, Mother Dairy, Verka, Sudha, Vikas, Warana/Amrut, Maahi, Gokul, Vijaya, Milma etc.

National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India Limited has recently expanded its activities into IT projects and end-to-end digital system development, undertaking a range of technology initiatives for dairy and allied sectors.

Current projects include the Laboratory Information & Management System (LIMS), eMeen (an auction platform for Tamil Nadu Fisheries), nSamagra (a dashboard for MIS), Artificial Insemination Incentive System, Milk Recording System, Event Management System, HR Module, and other customised digital solutions designed to strengthen data management, monitoring, service delivery and operational efficiency.

Dr Meenesh Shah, Chairman, NCDFI & National Dairy Development Board, was apprised of the progress of various ongoing IT initiatives. He appreciated the efforts of the NCDFI IT Team and provided valuable guidance and encouragement. He advised the team to further strengthen its capabilities, effectively utilise emerging Artificial Intelligence technologies, and continue developing practical, scalable and user-oriented digital solutions.

Through these initiatives, NCDFI is gradually strengthening its role in providing technology-enabled solutions on a turnkey basis for cooperatives and allied institutions.

National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India Limited is pleased to share the establishment of its Training Facility at the Head Office in Anand, equipped to support structured learning and professional development initiatives.

Equipped with an interactive digital display, video-conferencing facility and other supporting amenities, the facility can accommodate 50+ participants. The facility was inaugurated by Dr Meenesh Shah, Chairman, NCDFI & National Dairy Development Board.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shah highlighted NCDFI’s young workforce and encouraged continuous learning, adoption of new-generation AI tools, long-term professional growth and meaningful societal contribution, while assuring continued support from NDDB. He also appreciated the strong growth of NCDFI eMarket since its launch in 2015.

The facility is expected to further strengthen NCDFI’s capacity-building initiatives and support focused learning programmes for the cooperative dairy network.

Mahanand, the apex dairy cooperative organisation of Maharashtra, hosted a Knowledge Transfer Meeting for its member milk unions under the chairmanship of Shri Anil Hatekar, MD, Mahanand.

The meeting was attended by MDs and senior officials of various milk unions across Maharashtra. The programme covered key areas including NPS, biogas, various Government schemes and NCDFI eMarket, providing a platform for knowledge sharing and exchange of experiences among dairy cooperatives.

During the meeting, the National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India Limited team presented the NCDFI eMarket, with a special focus on its RFQ system and technology-enabled procurement capabilities aimed at facilitating transparent, efficient and competitive procurement. The team also shared an overview of NCDFI’s IT solutions and other digital initiatives being undertaken for the dairy cooperative sector. Participating dairies shared their experiences with NCDFI eMarket, adding valuable practical perspectives to the discussions.

The interaction further strengthened collaboration among Mahanand, its member milk unions and NCDFI, with a shared focus on greater adoption of digital solutions, knowledge exchange and improved operational efficiencies across Maharashtra’s cooperative dairy sector.

A key highlight of the NCDFI Conclave on Dairy-Defence Partnership, organised under the theme “From Farmers to Frontlines”, was a series of presentations by dairy cooperatives serving Defence establishments in border, Himalayan and North-Eastern regions.
Presentations were made by Shri Sardar Chand, GM, JKMPCL Jkmpcl Snowcap; Shri Manoj Solanki, MD, LUTDCF; Shri S. Kenedy Singh, MD, Manipur Milk Union; Dr. Ramesh Kumar, MD, Mizoram Milk Union; Dr. T. B. Ghatani, MD, Sikkim Milk Union; Shri Saksham Srivastava, Mktg Manager, UCDF; and Shri S K Parida, MD, WAMUL Purabi Dairy. Further, Dr. Sabyasachi Roy, Regional Head (East), National Dairy Development Board, made a presentation on dairy development in Arunachal Pradesh. The presenters shared their respective cooperatives’ growth and achievements, milk procurement and processing capabilities, experience of supplying Defence establishments across difficult terrains, farmer outreach, operational challenges, good practices and opportunities for further strengthening supplies.
The deliberations focused on practical measures to strengthen the Dairy-Defence partnership, including mapping of regional supply capacities, development of alternate suppliers, expansion of locally sourced fresh-milk supplies wherever feasible, and strengthening quality assurance, cold-chain systems, digital coordination and logistics.
The interaction provided an important platform for the cooperatives to place their ground-level experiences and capabilities before the Defence leadership, while also understanding evolving institutional requirements. The discussions reinforced the potential of stronger regional dairy networks to ensure reliable supplies to Defence personnel while creating assured markets for local cooperatives and their dairy farmer members.
