The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued an important series Guidelines for IS โ€œIS/IEC 62368 : Part 1: 2023 , vide No : W-47/34/2025-IPHW dated 20th May 2026

๐Š๐ž๐ฒ ๐‡๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐ฌ:

1. Maximum no of Models in a series:
1.1) Maximum 10 models can be included.
1.2) 1 sample should be taken for every 10 models.

2. IP Ratings
2.1) All series models should have same IP ratings.
2.2) IP marks on product be tested as IS 60529

3. Enclosure Materials and surface Treatments
3.1) All series models should have same enclosures
3.2) All series models have same shape and general design
3.3) Ventilation opening in the enclosure of series models should be same.

4. Apertures for connectors, control and Display shall not compromise integrity with lead model.

5. All the series models have same class of construction.

6. Every series model lies in same energy source and safeguard system.

7. External energy sources, mains operated with Internal power Supply and battery (internal) operated shall not be grouped in the same series.

8. All the series models should have same form factors, same microphone and earphone, same type of charging, same output ratings, same number of outputs, same frequency, same bus voltage, same display, same mounting and many more.

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has notified the revised standard IS/ISO 14001:2026 (Environmental Management Systems โ€“ Third Revision), which is an identical adoption of ISO 14001:2026.

๐Š๐ž๐ฒ ๐‡๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐ฌ:
โ€ข ISO 14001:2026 reinforces the role of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) in improving measurable environmental performance.
โ€ข Enhanced focus on climate change, biodiversity and resource efficiency.
โ€ข Greater emphasis on leadership involvement, governance and accountability.
โ€ข Improved guidance with clearer structure and more intuitive navigation.
โ€ข Encourages integration of environmental objectives across operations and value chains.

๐„๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž ๐ƒ๐š๐ญ๐ž:
IS/ISO 14001:2015 will remain valid until 14 November 2026. Organizations are advised to transition to IS/ISO 14001:2026 within this period, after which only the revised standard will be applicable.

Bureau of Indian Standards has announced a major procedural transition under the Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme (FMCS), shifting to a fully digital application system from offline processes.

๐–๐ก๐š๐ญโ€™๐ฌ ๐‚๐ก๐š๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ง๐ :
i) Applicants must fill the prescribed application form along with all necessary supporting documents
ii) Nomination of an Authorized Indian Representative (AIR) using the prescribed format is mandatory
iii) A complete application must be submitted as per the checklist of required documents
iv) Submission of application along with applicable fees and AIR nomination form is to be made at FMCD, BIS Headquarters, New Delhi

๐“๐ซ๐š๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐“๐ข๐ฆ๐ž๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ž:
i) Offline / hard copy applications will be accepted only up to 31 May 2026
ii) From 01 June 2026 onwards, only online applications through the portal will be accepted

i) Applicants are advised to carefully review commonly observed deficiencies before submission.

The Bureau of Indian Standards has issued a Corrigendum vide F. No. BS/XI/11/01/2025-26 dated 28 April 2026 regarding the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Amendment Regulations, 2026 published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary [Part IIIโ€”Section 4].

Key Highlights

1. BIS has made a correction applies to Scheme-IV under Schedule-II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
2. The corrigendum clarifies the validity period of the Certificate of Conformity.
3. The earlier provision was: โ€œThe certificate of conformity shall be granted initially for five years.โ€
4. This has been amended to: โ€œThe certificate of conformity shall be granted initially upto five years.โ€
