Sri Lanka Seals Its Best Tourism Year in History!

Sri Lanka has officially recorded its highest-ever tourist arrivals in 2025, surpassing the previous all-time record of 2,333,796 visitors set in 2018.

The milestone arrival was an Indian tourist from Thiruvananthapuram, who arrived onboard a SriLankan Airlines flight.

India emerged as Sri Lanka’s largest source market, contributing over 500,000 tourist arrivals, underscoring strong regional travel demand and connectivity.

Despite late-November challenges caused by Cyclonic Storm Ditwah, Sri Lanka’s tourism industry remained resilient, ensuring uninterrupted travel experiences and reinforcing confidence among global travellers.

Sri Lanka has secured the fifth position among the Best Places to Visit in Asia for 2026, according to rankings released by U.S. News & World Report, placing the island nation alongside some of the continent’s most iconic destinations such as Mount Fuji, Tokyo, Palawan, and Seoul.
U.S. News & World Report, a leading American media organization known for its global rankings, consumer advice, and in-depth analysis, ranked destinations based on a data-driven evaluation. The assessment considered local prices, accessibility, cuisine, diversity of attractions, and reader feedback.
The list is topped by Mount Fuji in Japan, followed by Tokyo, Palawan in the Philippines, and Seoul in South Korea, with Sri Lanka earning fifth place.
