A creative family run winery since 1911 Since then, over a hundred vintages have gone by, with four generations following one another.

The history of the Bava Family starts in Cocconato, a village that rises steeply up the hillsides of the Monferrato Astigiano. The Bava Family has grown grape vines in this territory since 1600 and in 1911 in the very same area the family built their first wine cellar. The best Bava Barberas are renowned in the world thanks to their high quality. Today, the family estate extends in Monferrato and Langa, with twenty hectares of natural fields and woods and fifty-five vineyards, cultivated with the same awareness, care and attention of the olden times resulting in a sustainable agriculture with a reduced environmental impact. Walking along the Bava vineyards, you will notice the grass clippings and the prunings used as natual fertilizers, the poles, all strictly made of wood coming from renewable forests or grassing between vine rows, which not only helps prevent soil erosion, but also serves as proof that no hebicides are used.

L’arte entra in cantina. 🎨🍷
Anche quest’anno le nostre cantine storiche ospitano Germinale – Monferrato Art Fest, la rassegna che trasforma le colline del Monferrato in un museo diffuso, mettendo in dialogo arte contemporanea, paesaggio e territorio.
Dal 11 settembre al 4 ottobre, tra gli spazi della nostra cantina a Cocconato, saranno esposte le opere di Gianluca Brando: un’occasione per attraversare la cantina e lasciarsi guidare da nuovi sguardi sul territorio.
E proprio il suolo, elemento fondamentale nel carattere e nell’espressione di un vino, sarà al centro di una degustazione speciale pensata per l’occasione.

Un’esperienza che unisce la visita alle cantine storiche Bava alla degustazione di tre vini, scelti per raccontare tre differenti suoli del Monferrato.

Art comes to the winery. 🎨🍷
Once again, our historic cellars are hosting *Germinale – Monferrato Art Fest*, an event that transforms the Monferrato hills into an open-air museum, creating a dialogue between contemporary art, the landscape, and the local territory.
From September 11 to October 4, works by Gianluca Brando will be on display within our Cocconato winery, an opportunity to explore the cellar while gaining fresh perspectives on the region.
The soil itself, a fundamental element shaping a wine’s character and expression, will take center stage in a special tasting created for the occasion.

An experience combining a tour of the historic Bava cellars with a tasting of three wines, each selected to tell the story of a different Monferrato soil type.

Anche i grappoli a bacca bianca hanno raggiunto la giusta maturazione e sono pronti ad arrivare in cantina.
