Painted Red is set against the postwar era of the 60s and 70s in the enchanted, red-tiled roofed towns of Florence and Pavia, and is at once an exploration of pain and redemption and a quest to find strength and love through loneliness and in one’s self. Through the book I examine my turbulent early years, being raised by a single mom who places me in a foster home and the effects it has on my life as I immigrate to the United States, carve out a successful career and form a family of my own. It is a joyous and painful journey of resilience and survival that I invite you to share with me as you traverse the cobblestone of enchanted Pavia and Florence, through the moss-laden redwoods forest of Mill Valley in California where I now live.
