MUWASCO has two sources of water; the River Kayahwe and River Irati along which the two water treatment works are situated. Currently, all water supply is done using electricity pumping which is a major cost to the company as well as a cause of water supply interruptions in cases of power black outs. However, plans are underway to put up a bulk water supply which is expected to curb on water shortage problems as it will be based on gravity water supply.

The competition intensified, and Team MUWASCO delivered across the tables! 🏓🎱

🎱 Pool: David Kibugi came through with a commanding victory, while Anthony Karani sealed a 3–0 win over Gatanga Water. Peter Ng’ang’a also secured a 3–1 victory, as MUWASCO dominated the encounter 3–0.

🏓 Table Tennis: Our team also secured a fantastic victory over the host team, Kericho Water, proving that home advantage doesn’t always tell the whole story! 🔥

And as the evening stretched on, the MUWASCO spirit remained alive, with our Pool team leading Meru Water 3–0 in a high-intensity encounter, backed by colleagues who stayed on to cheer the team on. 💙👏🏾

From one victory to another, the tables are turning—and MUWASCO is making every match count. 🏆🔥

What a way to kick off the 2026 WASPA Sports & Culture Festival! 🔥

Under the theme “Developing WASH Through Culture and Games,” Team MUWASCO joined fellow water sector teams for the grand opening parade, setting the pace for a week of sport, culture, teamwork, networking and healthy competition. 💪🏾🏆

And when it came to the track, our Managing Director, Eng. Daniel Ng’ang’a, made his presence felt! 🏃🏾‍♂️💨 After his initial 100M victory was called for a redo, he returned to the starting line and won it all over again! 🥇🔥 A second race, same champion!

The MD wasn’t done yet. He later took to the pitch for the MDs’ football match, bringing his competitive spirit from the track to the field. ⚽💙

Beyond the competition, MUWASCO also made a strong brand statement throughout the day. Our subsidiaries, Fort Beverage Industries and Majicare SACCO, were strategically represented through prominent branding materials across the event spaces, ensuring our brands remained visible, memorable and firmly part of the WASPA experience. 💧💙

What a way to kick off the 2026 WASPA Games!

After his first victory was challenged and the race called for a redo, our Managing Director, Eng. Daniel Ng’ang’a, didn’t argue with the decision—he simply lined up again and won the 100M race. 🏃🏾‍♂️💨

But this victory runs deeper than the finish line. In this unique initiative, participating MDs each contribute KES 10,000, with the winner’s pool going towards supporting vulnerable members of society. 🤝🏾❤️

The verdict is now clear: the race was redone, but the winner remained the same. 😎🏆

And just like that, MUWASCO has made its statement at the WASCO Games. We came to compete. We came to win. And we came with purpose.

With determination, teamwork and the MUWASCO spirit, our team is ready to take on the competition across;

WATCH | PIPES, PROMISES & PATCHED TOWNS: Unpacking Kenya’s Water Deficit

Our Managing Director, Eng. Daniel Nganga, joined The Situation Room on Spice FM and KTN News Kenya to discuss the realities, challenges, and opportunities shaping Kenya’s water sector.

During the insightful conversation, he highlighted how technology and innovation are transforming water service delivery, citing MUWASCO’s adoption of Mobi-Water's smart infrastructure, which enables real-time monitoring of water levels and system performance to enhance operational efficiency. He encouraged fellow Water Service Providers to embrace technology-driven solutions through strategic Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).

On the challenge of Non-Revenue Water (NRW), he noted that according to the latest Wasreb Kenya's report, NRW has risen from 44% to 48%, translating to an estimated KSh 14.8 billion lost annually through aging infrastructure, illegal connections, vandalism, and other systemic challenges. He emphasized that protecting water infrastructure is a shared responsibility, calling upon communities to work hand in hand with water utilities in safeguarding this vital resource.

He further addressed the need for stronger governance, reduced politicization of the water sector, increased investment, and closer collaboration among water sector institutions to accelerate universal access to safe and reliable water. Achieving Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals will require collective action, innovation, and sustained commitment from all stakeholders.
