Planting cassava is for professionals....Please don't just allow anybody to do the planting for you.Also take time out to check your stem cuttings,make sure the stems are not bruised and not too thin.For you to have good growth,your stem cuttings must be healthy.Stem cuttings can be got free from cassava farmers but if you can't get them free,then you can get to buy from farmers,IITA or other agricultural research institute.A bundle of cassava stem cuttings goes for N500-N700 now.After planting,you get to w**d your farm at intervals.Some farmers add fertilizers after 2-3 weeks of planting but personal,I don't use fertilizers for my cassava.Weeding a large hectarage of can be very expensive,what I do is to use herbicides.It's a lot cheaper and also the best method of w**d control.

Preparing land for cassava can be done mechanically or you could combine both mechanical and manual. I usually combine both. I plough my land once and then make heaps.Yes I make heaps manually employing labour.....You might say it will be expensive and how do you get to cultivate a lot of hecterage.You can cultivate 10 hectares and less with this method (Though I've used for far more than that) and I promise you, you will get an excellent yield, all other things being equal using this method. I get to plough my land using tractors @ N12,000 per hectare(two and a half acres).While I get labour for making heaps @ N300 for 200heaps...You will be shocked how fast these guys are.
