Law no be Nollywood, but e still dey guide your market runs.
The other day, someone asked me:
“Counsel, if I buy something in the market and later find out it’s fake, can I arrest the seller?”
I smiled.
The truth is, law no be action film, market dispute no dey start with siren.
Here’s what the law actually says:
Once you buy goods, what exists between you and the seller is a contract of sale and by law, the seller must deliver goods that match the description or sample.
If the goods turn out fake or defective, it’s not a police matter, it’s a legal rights matter. Your remedies include:
✅ Rejecting the goods
✅ Demanding a refund or replacement
✅ Suing for breach of contract
So, before you turn market to police station, remember, the law already armed you with a sharper weapon, knowledge of your rights.
I share these because law isn’t just for lawyers or courtrooms, it’s for daily life. The more you understand it, the easier it gets to protect your pocket and avoid costly mistakes.
I hope you understand. Do well to follow Comfort Benjamin Sarkin Noma , you will be glad you did.
