I get asked often why I didn’t go on to practise law after being admitted to the bar. For me, the answer has always been simple: it didn’t align with my intentions, especially once I started my own family. Time became my most valuable commodity, and I became fiercely protective of how I spend it.

I’ve made decisions that make people (esp family) raise their eyebrows. Comments like “But you’re a lawyer…” and “you left a secure job paying $86K? You sure that was the right thing to do at this time?”

I did - because I don’t live my life for other people’s expectations. I live it in alignment with my values.

I value time with my family, especially while my kids are young. I value freedom, purpose, and building something meaningful on my own terms. Ascend Assistants was created from these values. It’s not just a business… it’s a reflection of the life and mission I’m intentionally building.
