2 Minutes with van Gaalen-Oxygen8 🙂

1. What did you do before joining Oxygen8?
I have had an advertising agency for the last 20 years specialising in Media strategy, Planning and Ex*****on. I also have a Management background in Retail and Hospitality and a Pastor of a local Christian Church.

2. If you have a specialty what would it be?
I genuinely care. I love being able to work alongside people and help them succeed. Love seeing joy in people’s eyes when they see light at the end of the tunnel and know that it is going to get better.

3. What is your favourite family vacation?
We LOVE the beach or being by a lake, enjoying the simple things BBQs and camping with family , laughing a lot.

4. What do you do to keep fit?
We live across the road from the beach, so we walk the beach a lot and play 2 hours tennis every week.

5. If you had a warning label, what would yours say?
Warning Dad jokes may come out

6. What is one thing you will never do again?
Live with regrets, life’s too short grab every minute and enjoy it the best you can with who and what you have around you.

7. What is your proudest accomplishment in your current role?
Helping both clients and other Oxygen8 advisors reach the lifestyle goals they dream about

8. What advice would you give to an SME business owner?
Don’t sweat the small stuff, focus on the positives and plan and then execute that plan. Look after yourself, and your staff, provide amazing service and value, be prepared to charge for it!

More Ways to Support a Small Business
There are lots of ways you can support small businesses right now. This is one of our favourite lists some will cost you some money, some of these won’t cost you a cent, just a few minutes of your time.

Find a local supplier,like a butcher or fruit & vege shop that can supply what you need and buy from them, It may cost a little more but you are helping them stay afloat.

When you have bought, rave about it. What made you feel special.

Lots of people will read Facebook and Google reviews before they trust a business enough to buy from it. So if you've had awesome service from someone local, let other people know about it by leaving a great review.

When small businesses aren't able to get people through the doors, you can help them stay visible online by liking and engaging with their posts instead of just scrolling on by.

If you love their products and think your friends will too, why not share one of their posts this weekend.
And if you are a super fan, take a photo of your purchase and post it on your social media with a shout-out and tag the business.
