AmCham Philippines held an exclusive Executive Doorknock Courtesy Visit and High-Level Dialogue with Pasig City Mayor Victor “Vico” Sotto on August 20, bringing together Executive Director Ebb Hinchliffe and AmCham member companies for a focused discussion on Pasig’s business environment and development priorities.

The dialogue covered smart cities, artificial intelligence, ease of doing business, education, and healthcare, with members sharing industry perspectives and exploring opportunities for stronger public-private collaboration.

Mayor Sotto also shared updates on the new Pasig City Hall, expected to have a soft opening in the second quarter of 2027, as well as the Magokoro Elderly Care Facility, which will provide care and support services for the vulnerable senior citizens of Pasig City.

The engagement was made possible through AmCham’s Business Services and Development Department, led by Tesa Manrique, and reflects the Chamber’s continuing efforts to foster meaningful dialogue between the business community and local government.

AmCham Philippines held its General Membership Meeting last August 19, 2026, featuring Assistant Secretary Romeo Balanquit of the Department of Budget and Management, who represented Budget Secretary Kim Robert de Leon.

The discussion highlighted the F.Y. 2027 proposed ₱7.2-trillion expenditure program, with focus on investments in infrastructure, education, digitalization, human capital, and fiscal reforms to support sustainable growth and strengthen national competitiveness.

Asec. Balanquit emphasized the strategic role of the national budget, noting that it signals “what the government considers important, where public investment is going, and whether we are building the systems that businesses will need in the years ahead.” He further underscored the need to translate the country’s higher income into stronger capabilities, describing the national budget as “one of the most powerful instruments” we have to do that.

The event also marked the induction of AmCham Philippines’ newest members: Airport Garden Cafe, Mabuhay Capital Corporation, Musolingo, Prime Metro BMD, and Starlight Business Consulting Services. AmCham Philippines warmly welcomes its new members and looks forward to fostering stronger partnerships and collaboration within the business community.

On July 31, 2026, the AmCham Philippines Pharmaceutical Committee convened a high-level stakeholder roundtable at Robert Sears Hall in Makati to advance comprehensive strategies for strengthening lung cancer prevention, early detection, treatment access, and patient-centered care. Moderated by Pharmaceutical Committee Co-chairs Mr. Martin Crisostomo and Rachel Queenie Dizon-Rodulfo, the session featured keynote speaker Dr. Mary Bussell (CEO, TriMar Strategies) who shared international best practices and critical policy interventions, alongside Engr. Emerito "Emer" Rojas (President, Lung Health Alliance of the Philippines), who provided invaluable perspective as both a cancer survivor and patient advocate. The dialogue reinforced a shared commitment: addressing a critical health challenge in which lung cancer remains one of the Philippines' leading causes of cancer-related mortality.

We are grateful for the active participation and commitment of our distinguished attendees representing Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, Fullerton Health & Radlink, Makati Health Department, PhilCare, Wells Fargo, and AIM. This collaborative engagement strengthened public-private partnerships and generated concrete actionable recommendations to foster equitable access to innovative diagnostics and therapies, build institutional capability, and drive measurable improvements in lung cancer outcomes for all Filipino patients.
