MY CLIENT THOUGHT THEY WERE PROFITABLE UNTIL WE DID THIS

A mere look at our Clients books will show data captured were fine on the surface. Sales were up, and cash flows were running. They assumed they were making profits.

But guess what we discovered after a proper review:

1. No Proper Cost Allocation

Non accounting for key costs like depreciation, owner’s salary, or overheads. So their “profit” was inflated. They'll just add an amount they felt will be a fair profit margin without considering if it will actually cover all their expenses, including overheads and not just the cost of purchase.

2. Mixing Business and Personal Expenses

Some business income was covering personal expenses. Once we separated them, the true profit margin reflected

3. Inventory Wasn’t Accounted For

They had unsold inventory tying up cash, and stock losses weren’t recorded. We included these in the books, and it changed the numbers drastically.

4. No Reconciliation

Bank statements didn’t match their accounting records. We reconciled everything and found errors in revenue and expense entries. Using accounting software solved this problem.

What looked like profit was actually break-even at best. But with proper accounting systems in place, they’re now truly profitable and they know exactly where their money goes.

Numbers don’t lie, but poor bookkeeping does.
