It’s striking to see how quickly new inflection points are emerging in computing, particularly at the intersection of AI and photonics.

Yesterday, we celebrated the shipment of the first augmented reality waveguide wafer for Applied Materials’ Photonics Platform Business!

This milestone also reflects the strength of our partnership with GlobalFoundries. By combining Applied’s expertise in materials engineering, process technology and equipment with GF’s manufacturing capabilities, we are working together to co-optimize and scale these technologies, bringing them closer to reality.

More broadly, this collaboration marks a significant step in the evolution of photonics as a foundational technology for next-generation AI applications, including areas like AR and more human-centric digital experiences that depend on ultra-efficient, lightweight, high-performance optical systems.

We are excited to be at the forefront of accelerating these critical technologies, which will fundamentally reshape how next-generation AI-powered smart glasses are designed and built.

Thirty-five years ago, Applied Materials began its journey in South East Asia. Today, that story continues, shaped by the people who have built, grown and carried it forward.

At our SEA35 Employee Day, we came together to recognise the employees whose dedication, expertise and teamwork have strengthened our business, deepened our partnerships, and advanced innovation across the region.

A highlight of the celebration was the unveiling of the Applied Materials Orchid, an orchid hybrid commissioned to mark this milestone. A descendant of Singapore’s national flower, it reflects strength, adaptability and growth over time – qualities that define both our people and our journey in South East Asia.

We also unveiled our SEA35 commemorative custom-made brick models of our core platforms, something we are sure employees are looking forward to receive! The models illustrate how our progress has been built piece by piece through shared effort, continuous learning, and innovation.

To everyone who has been part of this journey, THANK YOU for all your efforts!

35 years in Singapore. One bold new campus.

Today, Applied Materials officially opened our Tampines Campus – marking a key milestone in our Singapore 2030 plan and long‑term commitment to the region.

We were honored to have Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr Gan Kim Yong, join us as Guest-of-Honour, alongside our global leadership, partners, and customers.

Apart from expanding manufacturing capacity and capabilities, deepening partnerships, and strengthening our workforce, the Campus is also poised to be a critical cornerstone for R&D to help us innovate at speed.

At the opening, we also announced a new ‘AI Acceleration for Semiconductor Process’ collaboration with the National University of Singapore to advance the integration of AI and chip manufacturing, and launched the Applied Materials–SIT Professorship and Scholarship together with the Singapore Institute of Technology to develop future‑ready semiconductor talent.

Together, these efforts position us for the next phase of growth and strengthen Singapore’s position on the global semiconductor stage. Excited for what lies ahead!

ASTRA (Applied Startup Technology & Research Accelerator) made its Singapore debut this year, bringing the deep-tech ecosystem together to focus on what matters most: real-world deployment!

At ASTRA Singapore 2026, discussions moved beyond what’s next – spanning embodied AI, robotics, and advanced manufacturing – to focus on what it takes to deploy these technologies reliably at scale. In deep tech today, the challenge is no longer just breakthrough ideas, but how quickly they can be translated into real-world impact. Singapore is a natural place for this, where research, startups, industry, and capital come together, enabling ideas to move faster from conversation to collaboration.

Behind these conversations is a broader ecosystem that helps move them forward.

Beyond sponsorship and being a co-organizer of ASTRA, Enterprise Singapore provided opportunities for the participating companies of ASTRA to connect with its broader network for continued engagement across the region.

Ahead of the main event, the Pre-ASTRA Luncheon hosted by the Singapore Economic Development Board - EDB brought founders, partners, and industry leaders together early. We saw connections formed and conversations taking shape.

A huge thank you to our partners and leaders – Dr Eric Chen, Dr Om Nalamasu, Tim Deane, KC Ong, Brian Tan and Anand Kamannavar – for helping to make ASTRA Singapore 2026 possible!

It’s a wrap! What a whirlwind few days of action as Applied Materials took to the stage at SEMI SEA SEMICON Southeast Asia 2026!

Through sharing sessions and fireside chats, our Applied leaders helped to drive conversations on advancing AI performance and strengthening cybersecurity resilience, while also underscoring the importance of building strong people leaders and preparing talent for the next phase of growth. Beyond the stage, it was equally energizing to see our colleagues contributing in different ways - from representing in the TechIDOL competition to engaging students and professionals at our workforce development booth.

Not only did these showcase the depth of talent and passion of our people, it also reflected something bigger - the next phase of semiconductor growth hinges on collective effort across roles, experiences and generations.

Scroll for highlights from our speakers and participants at Applied Materials, including Regional President (SEA) Mr. Brian Tan, Senior Director of Advanced Packaging Dr. Ashok Muthukumaran, Senior Director of Information Security and Risk Management Mr. Ramu Duvur, Country HR Lead Ms. Jenny Chan, Operations Manager Mr. Fabian Kwan, and Customer Engineer Ms. Yeo Gin Lin.

For Kinex™, the journey started as an idea shared between teams globally – and slowly grew into a system that now helps solve real challenges in advanced packaging.

As Senior Director of Engineering Management, Loke Yuen Wong has seen that journey up close: stories and jokes about how it all began, long nights solving problems, and teams across process, hardware and software overcoming numerous challenges together.

Kinex™ is the result of that global collaboration – engineers around the world turning a complex hybrid bonding concept into a tool customers can trust on their most advanced AI and memory lines.

At Applied Materials, the work we do together advances the world’s technology.

What does it take to build the first integrated die-to-wafer hybrid bonder?

Kinex™ exists because two specialist worlds decided to build one solution together.

brought materials engineering, wafer process and metrology expertise. Besi brought world-class die placement, interconnect and assembly technology. Through a joint development program, the teams co-designed an integrated die-to-wafer hybrid bonding system built for high-volume manufacturing of advanced logic and memory.
