🎃👻 HALLOWEEN COSTUME SAFETY TIPS! 👻🎃

The Addison Fire Protection District #1 wants everyone to have a SAFE, FUN, and SPOOKTACULAR Halloween! 🧡🖤

Before your little ghosts, goblins, superheroes, and princesses head out for trick-or-treating, take a few minutes to make sure their costumes are safe!

🎃 CHOOSE FIRE-RESISTANT COSTUMES!
Look for costumes, wigs, and accessories labeled "flame-resistant." Keep costumes away from candles, fire pits, and other open flames.

👻 BE SEEN, STAY SAFE!
Choose bright-colored costumes or add reflective tape to costumes and treat bags. Carry glow sticks or flashlights to help drivers see trick-or-treaters.

🧙 MAKE SURE COSTUMES FIT!
Avoid oversized costumes, long capes, or dragging fabric that could cause trips and falls. Make sure shoes fit properly.

🦸 MASKS VS. MAKEUP!
Consider using non-toxic face paint instead of masks that may obstruct vision. If wearing a mask, make sure your child can see and breathe easily.

🍬 SAFE COSTUME ACCESSORIES!
Swords, wands, and other costume accessories should be soft, flexible, and free of sharp edges.

🚒 WATCH OUT FOR TRAFFIC!
Use sidewalks and crosswalks, look both ways before crossing streets, and have a responsible adult accompany younger children.

🕯️ SKIP THE OPEN FLAMES!
Use battery-operated candles or LED lights in jack-o'-lanterns and Halloween decorations to reduce fire hazards.

🚨 A LITTLE PREPARATION CAN PREVENT A HALLOWEEN EMERGENCY!

Air bag deployment
Saw maintenance

A $24,251 INVESTMENT IN LIFE-SAVING CARE!

Today, Addison Fire Protection District was proud to accept a grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation!

We extend our sincere thanks to Jaison Alexander, franchisee in Stone Park, for helping make this possible.

The $24,251 grant funded the purchase of the ZOLL AutoPulse NXT Chest Compression System and accessories, giving our paramedics another critical tool to care for residents of Village of Addison experiencing cardiac arrest.

The ZOLL EMS and Fire AutoPulse NXT delivers consistent, patient-customized circumferential chest compressions, helping maintain high-quality CPR while reducing the need for pauses and manual adjustments. Its CPR feedback capabilities also provide valuable data to help evaluate and improve resuscitation efforts.

This life-saving technology will be available to our EMS crews as they respond to cardiac emergencies throughout the Addison community.

Stronger technology. Better resuscitation. More opportunities to save lives.

Fire Marshal Dan Medina received a special recognition award at the 85th Fire Prevention Week Luncheon for his many legislative actions. Congratulations!

Frankfort Fire Protection District hosted multiple agencies for Fire Cadet/Explorer Training this weekend.

Addison Fire Explorer Post #343 were amongst the agencies in attendance at this event.

This training experience is priceless for these youths that are building their knowledge and skill base in aspirations to become full time FF/PM’s.
