Don’t go fall shopping just yet!

Looks like summer isn’t over yet

As temperatures climb this week, remember to stay hydrated, take breaks from the heat, and check on those who may be more vulnerable to extreme temperatures.

Drink plenty of water
Take breaks in the shade or air conditioning
Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle

Stay cool and enjoy the last days of summer!

You can never be to safe! Illinois State Fire Marshal data showed more than 3,000 home fires are caused by extension cords every year?

Before you plug in that project, take a second:

✅ Use the RIGHT cord for the job
✅ Check for frays, cracks or damage
✅ Keep cords away from heat & water
🚫 NEVER plug one extension cord into another
🚫 NEVER use an extension cord as permanent wiring

That extra few seconds could prevent a fire. Use it safely. Stay safe, Addison! 🏠🔥

The crews enjoyed the pizza! Glad we could assist

This morning, our patrol officers responded to a home to help a family during a stressful situation involving their young child.

Later, the child’s father stopped by to thank our officers for responding so quickly and helping his family. He also brought pizzas for our officers and the Addison Fire Protection District as a thank-you for being there when his family needed help.

We truly appreciate the thoughtful gesture and are always grateful for the opportunity to serve our community. Thank you for thinking of our officers and Fire Department! ML204/MV418/SV429

🔥🔋 Safe Charging Is a Superpower! 🔋🔥

Fire Prevention Week™ is October 4–10, 2026!

This year’s theme, “Charge Into Fire Safety™. Safe Charging Is a Superpower,” focuses on the everyday steps we can all take to reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires and keep our homes, families, and community safe.

📱 Phones
💻 Laptops & tablets
🚲 E-bikes & e-scooters
🔧 Power tools
🎮 Rechargeable electronics

Lithium-ion batteries are part of our everyday lives. Using the correct charger, charging devices on a hard, stable surface, and keeping batteries away from heat and flammable materials can make a big difference.

⚡ Plug in. Power up. Stay safe. ⚡

Throughout Fire Prevention Week, Addison Fire Protection District #1 will be sharing tips to help everyone practice safer charging habits.

Charge into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower. Watch videos that help people of all ages learn safe charging habits and lithium-ion battery safety.

Firehawk 71 at your service!

EYES IN THE SKY: How Drones Protect Lives in the Fire Service

When every second counts, drones (UAVs) are game-changing tools for modern fire departments. 🚒🛸 Here are a few ways they protect our community:

• Scene Overwatch: Gives commanders a live, birds-eye view to deploy crews safely and effectively.

• Hazmat Safety: Inspects chemical spills and dangerous zones before firefighters ever step foot inside.

• Search & Rescue: Covers miles of ground in minutes to locate victims in woods or floodwaters.
By using drone technology, we work smarter, keep our community safer, and ensure our firefighters return home securely. 💪❤️
